I know there is always a debate on what the best Green Day, but looking back they’ve done a great job continually releasing music.
I think this is the only post needed to describe FOAM. Funny to mention the Green Album. As a 90s kid, my expectations to a release from either Green Day or Weezer now are at the same low bar. It won't be anything new or original, but if there can be something catchy and fun, nothing makes me happier than blasting the bands I grew up with
I think Green Day should take a page out of Weezer's book now that they've stated they want to put music out more regularly. Make every album concise with a unique defined theme, that way if one isn't to someones taste you know there will be another one around the corner that might be great.
Yeah definitley a fun album....I think Weezer's advantage over Green Day atp in their careers is that Weezer doesn't take themselves too seriously...though I would've loved a Green Day American Idiot Sequel duringTrump's presidency
Pollyanna is just ok tbh. I’ve listened a few times and I already can’t remember hardly anything about it
I don't know if I would say Green Day were "taking themselves seriously" on FOAM, haha. But yeah, I'd love a more playful album from them...maybe something that takes some of the anthemic feel of their rock opera days, but doesn't try to tie it to any larger-than-life stories or themes.
I kind of understand that but I still think it's such a good album. I listened to that and RevRad back to back the other day and loved them. Super solid, if safe, records and I don't see how any GD fan wouldn't dig the hell outta em
I picked up 21st Century Breakdown the other day on vinyl. I haven't listened to it much in a long time, but spinning it took me back to when it came out, which was right around when I graduated high school. I was surprised at how fond I was of most of those songs, even still. It's definitely a bit overblown (and overlong) but there's a lot of great stuff on there.
Yeah it's obviously not a bad record, it was hugely formative for me, but I do not go back to it very often.
