For whatever reason I rarely like Green Day's first album singles so I'm not worried. Plus I'm excited that they're working with Butch Walker.

 

Yup forgot about Butch being behind this. Still not into the song, but am always open to hear more.

 

Said it in the album thread but I’m so happy they actually changed it up, it’s exactly what I wanted them to do. As much as I loved RevRad, if they just made another album like that I would have been so disappointed. Really excited to see what else they have in store

Yeah I agree the song doesn't do much for me after multiple listens either.

Yup. Album is 26 minutes long and possibly another new album next year since they'll be leaving Warner Bros.

 

Song is so damn good. So freaking happy Green Day is back.

 

I listened to the song a couple more times on my drive home and it started to grow on me.

 

Songs good. The first time I heard it was on crappy earbuds and I swore Patrick Stump was on vocals

 

After all these years, they are still very good live. They make this bad song still sound good live.

 

Yeah I had the same reaction. Bad song sounded much better live.

 

Song sounded exactly the same to me live. Still doesn’t sound anything like Billie Joe.

 

If the bad song sounds good live doesn't that make it... not a bad song?

 

Billie’s vocals not sounding like Billie is the problem to me because he’s one of the better sounding vocalists out there, within his genre at least

 

No. It means they played the bad song well live, but that doesn’t change the fact the song isn’t good.

 

Listening to American Idiot for the first time in quite a long while. One thing I've only just realised is just how great the guitar sounds on it. Every riff sounds incredible, so heavy and raw. I'm so glad this record became a classic, deserves every accolade it gets.

 

He shouldn't perform without a guitar. Doesn't suit him.

 

At least he isn't Rivers-without-a-guitar or Tom-without-a-guitar bad I guess haha

 

Who is the new guitarist? Is it the guy who plays with Billie in The Coverups?

 

Yup. You can’t even tell it’s the guy with one of most recognizable rock vocals of the last three decades.

 

Better than him standing there with a guitar and not playing a single note on it the whole song.
