If Billie Joe's Instagram is anything to go by, he seems to be more political than ever and I would not be surprised to see that seep over into the music.
I wouldn't be surprised at something like Breakdown, thematically. That was written primarily during the last few years of the Bush presidency into Obama's first term. It was more critical of politics and social issues than AI, for sure. There was also a message of hope in some of those those lyrics. I'm expecting something along those lines.
Trump is an American idiot also I know Billie Joe also did the soundtrack for his movie Geezer, not sure when that's coming out
I always say a trump presidency is going to bring political punk back and who better to do that than Green Day?
Or if it's coming out. The movie is slated for "fall", but nobody knows much more than that at the moment.
Hoping for an October release—close, but realistic. Between The Menzingers, Against Me!, and Green Day, this fall could be stacked for great punk records.
Yeah, I mean, who knows. American Idiot was out pretty quickly after the title track dropped as a single. And that song showed up in August, with the album releasing in late September. Maybe something similar for this record?
93.3 wmmr just said they're going to be playing green days new song called bang bang this Thursday! • /r/greenday I was just listening to wmmr around 5:00 tonight and the host said they would have their new song some time this Thursday. i remember they were one of the first stations to play songs from their last couple albums as well and the albums were released soon after. aah this is making me so excited! I wonder what other songs they have and if they'll be playing different stuff when they visit the other radio station theyre going to this week.
I'm always on board for Cavallo. The only album Rubin's produced that I know I've listened to is Weezer's Make Believe so idk how I'd feel about that.
What about a Jake Sinclair-produced hyper poppy Green Day album? I'd be down, though that might not be what their career needs at this point.
