I love the story about Billie Joe bringing Fat Mike on their tour bus before Warning was released, and letting him hear the record in its entirety. BJ asks Fat Mike what he thinks, and Mike says it sucks and it will ruin the band. I guess BJ was totally dejected after that, b/c the band was in a weird place at the time, but it all wound up working out haha. Fat Mike told the story in an interview years ago and admitted he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about haha
Dookie's my favorite album of theirs but honestly that and American Idiot might be the only albums of theirs I've heard in full, Brain Stew/Jaded might be my favorite song
Favorite Green Day songs for me would be a pretty eclectic mix. Going To Pasalacqua, Hitchin a Ride, Misery...
Yes, I believe you are correct - I think it was re-recorded. I now realize I've heard both versions - second one is more polished.
I couldn't name my favorite songs, haha. Maybe favorite from each album. I'll start at Dookie since I haven't listened to the early stuff enough. Dookie - Pulling Teeth Insomniac - Stuart and the Ave Nimrod - Hitchin' a Ride Warning - Church on Sunday American Idiot - Whatsername (maybe...it's hard) 21st Century Breakdown - Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl) Uno - Oh Love Dos - Ashley Tre - Missing You
Spot on for your Insomniac, Warning, American Idiot, and 21st picks. Mine, too! For 39/Smooth i'd pick At The Library For 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours I'd pick Dry Ice Kerplunk : One For The Razorbacks Dooke : She
and if we're counting Shenanigans, I'd go with Do Da Da BUT if they put the original Good Riddance insomniac version on that collection, then I'd pick that, but for some reason they didn't include it.
Okay I'll throw mine in 39/Smooth- Going to Pasalacqua or Dry Ice Kerplunk- Who Wrote Holden Caulfield or One for the Razorbacks or One of My Lies Dookie- Burnout or Basket Case Insomniac- 86 or Panic Song Nimrod- Scattered Warning- Minority or Waiting American Idiot- Jesus of Suburbia or Letterbomb 21st Century Breakdown- American Eulogy or Before the Lobotomy or Murder City Uno- Stay the Night or Rusty James Dos- Stray Heart Tre- Dirty Rotten Bastards or Brutal Love Nimrod and Dos are weirdly the only ones I have a definite indisputable favorite on
As long as we're doing lists, I'll throw my favorites in... 39/Smooth - Going to Pasalacqua Kerplunk! - No One Knows Dookie - Having a Blast Insomniac - either 86 or Walking Contradiction, depends on my mood nimrod. - Prosthetic Head WARNING - Waiting American Idiot - Whatsername ... holy fuck, the feels that song gives me. So relatable. 21CB - American Eulogy or the title track Uno - Stay the Night, agree with whoever said that should have been the lead single ... honorable mention to Rusty James Dos - Ashley Tre - 8th Avenue Serenade I would say nimrod is their best album, but Dookie is my favorite ... seems like you and I are in agreement on a lot of these, @tdlyon
39/Smooth- Going to Pasalacqua Kerplunk- Who Wrote Holden Caulfield Dookie- Coming Clean Insomniac- Stuck With Me Nimrod- Hitchin A Ride (haven't listened to the album properly but this is one of my favorites anyway) Warning- Misery American Idiot- Jesus of Suburbia Haven't heard the other albums enough to pick favorites
Late to the convo (real late) but glad to see "Whatsername" getting so much love. That was always my favorite on American Idiot.
Also, American Idiot has a special place in my heart because I had just picked up my first guitar shortly after that album came out, and looking up the guitar tabs to that album is basically how I learned how to play guitar. And, as to be expected, when Green Day is how you learn how to play guitar, you turn out to be quite below average at guitar.
GD prob sees all the awesome music 2016 has released and wants to be a part of it. I don't blame them. Wouldn't be a 90's revival w/o em.
It seems like that post was a troll post on that forum. but I'm sure they are still releasing music this year.
Something's up with that post. It may not be a full-on troll, but somebody related to the GDA/GDC team knows something about it. I mean, they know things they're not allowed to publicize. I don't believe that post came as far out of left field as it's being played up. Since the people over there hate the date-guessing game, I'll just throw out there I think the album gets a 10/21 release. No real reason, just feels right.
