Another thing that I see a lot. But some peoples favorites are others least favorites, and vice versa. If it was a one disc project some peoples favorite songs wouldn't exist. I understand it was too much to take in for some people, and the band even knew that going into it. They knew people would make playlists of their favorites.

Also it being lightweight was kinda the point, for better or for worse. After how heavy 21CB was I gladly welcomed a low stakes Green Day release (or three)

I'd personally prefer my favorite band release fewer quality songs than three albums' worth of songs that follow nearly the exact same formula to diminishing returns. Again, I think the majority of the trilogy is okay, but I find all of it astonishingly uninspired and, quite frankly, tired. It's such a wildly insignificant release that despite its length nobody will talk about in the future when they talk about Green Day.

Idk especially with the release of the Longshot I've been seeing a lot of people come around on the albums. While I don't think they'll ever be considered their best work, I do think time will be kind to the records.

  4. Not even the band defends those albums this much heh

It's true, honestly bashing Green Day's trilogy and Peter Capaldi's era of Doctor Who are the two things that get me the most riled up.

Plus RevRad feels a lot like a rebuke on those albums. It is quite the opposite and returning to what they have done best.

Well after the backlash it was smart for them to distance themselves from the albums a bit. But in interviews for Rev Rad, they always had nice things to say about the albums and now they're slowly reintroducing some of those songs into live rotation.

I'm actually listening to Revolution Radio for the first time, and while this first song isn't anything too great in relation to their career, it's certainly better than literally anything from the trilogy. Hm.

I love Revolution Radio, but I don't think it's dramatically better than any of the trilogy albums. Actually I think it's more similar to them than some people like to admit.

To me, Revolution Radio is their best work since 2004.

  11. Nah. The choruses are better. The production is more suited. It’s tighter and more intentional. The editing really helped the songs that made it. There’s still stuff that’s not as good as previous material, but it’s a nice rebound. You don’t have to dive through a pile of rocks to find one gem that’s only slightly shiny.

No way, the songs are way more interesting. Trilogy sounds like 37 of the same songs written over and over.

Hey, I def agree that the production is better and that it's tighter and more intentional!

Just finished Say Goodbye. THAT's a Green Day song. This is remarkably better than the trilogy. I admittedly do kind of want to mess with @clockwise, but I'm being sincere.

Boucing Off the Wall is a successful attempt at what they tried to achieve on the trilogy that ended up just sounding like Jet.

Idk it's hard to argue because Say Goodbye IS great. I just don't think it's that much better than most of the trilogy.

Feel free to mess with me all you want, I'm just happy to be talking about Green Day.

If Bouncing off the Wall was on the trilogy it would be one of my least favorites.

I've been drinking, but I'm pretty mad that I didn't check out Revolution Radio before now. This really isn't too bad, and if it came out after whatever the unmemorable album they put out after AI was, I wouldn't have been upset. Obviously it has none of the impact their most important work had, but it's at least focused and pretty fucking fun.

Yup, if any post-American Idiot Green Day album ages well, it's going to be this one, Revolution Radio.

21CB is so weak. I usually hate saying that something doesn't "sound like" the band that created it, but that is an instance where I think it applies.

Last Of the American Girls is one of my favorites, tho.

Viva La Gloria is just a worse version of Letterbomb.
