I still haven't listened to that trilogy. Warning is perfect. "Going To Pasalacqua" is a top ten song of theirs.
Oh Love is one of my favorite songs from the trilogy, and that's probably one of my weirdest opinions
I love how varied all of our opinions are haha. Makes for better discussion IMO! I love Warning. The day that album came out remains one of my favorite days from my teen years. Got free tickets to see a live concert filmed for this MTV special:
Impossible to pick a definite favorite for me, but I will say Kerplunk is the album I revisit the most. Not a bad album in the discography besides Dos if I'm being honest.
Imagine Kerplunk's songs with Dookie's production? You get a taste with Welcome To Paradise and the Dookie version is a million times better, so it leads me to believe it *could* be my favorite album if done like that.
Yuck, that's one of the worst songs Green Day has ever done IMO. The lyrics are horrible and the melody is stupid. Then those weird "whoas".. who's even singing that?
Church On Sunday is a great one. Not as great as Misery of course Warning is my favorite album of theirs as well
Totally with you. Dookie and Kerplunk are the two most similar Green Day albums imo, production quality being the only difference between the two. I will say that I think a little of the charm on songs like Christie Road and No One Knows might be lost with Dookie level production, but songs like 2000 Light Years Away and One of My Lies would be incredible.
Can we talk about how great the "new" songs off International Superhits were? J.A.R., Maria, and Poprocks And Coke could all probably make it in a top 20 Green Day songs list. Does anybody know where all those songs were from? I know J.A.R. was from a movie or something. Maria was also a cool glimpse into the American Idiot direction.
Maria is a Warning B-side I could be wrong but I think Poprocks and Coke was recorded specifically for the greatest hits
J.A.R. was almost 10 years old when that comp came out. And you're right! It is from the Angus Soundtrack. Unsure if it was recorded during Dookie or Insomniac sessions though. Maria is a Warning b-side, and I'm pretty sure Poprocks was the one song they recorded just for that record.
