Even I can't defend Nightlife lol Fuck Time definitely should have stayed as a Foxboro Hot Tubs song I do like Makeout Party but mostly for the music, the lyrics are obviously nonsense
I still think Dos is the worst of the three. As an individual album it ranks towards the bottom of my list with 21CB and 39 Smooth. Uno and Tre both rank pretty high though.
I also can't think of what song I would cut from 21st besides maybe Christian's Inferno but even that one is good for me I've never been a big Know Your Enemy fan but it still kills at concerts
Just looked at it, I'd cut Christian, Horseshoes, and 21 Guns. So not as much as I thought, I guess. It would help a lot to trim those three.
Horseshoes would have been my second choice to cut but I've always had a soft spot for that song. I can't imagine that album without 21 Guns though, and again that's a fucking spectacular live song
It did feel like an attempt at Boulevard pt. 2 when it came out. But I've definitely come around to it.
I probably wouldn't go out of my way to specifically listen to that song but in context of the album it works really well imo Gotta say I enjoy this thread being more active than the Blink one for once lol, even if it's only like 4 people
I've found whenever I get in the mood to listen to Uno/Dos/Tre I just end up throwing Demolicous on - pretty much a good mix of all three albums.
Outside of Stray Heart, which I mainly like for the bass beat, Dos is pretty unlistenable. I actually don't mind Uno or Tre, they have a handful of songs I still enjoy on them but yeah the Trilogy album was definitely a big swing and miss. Did they always start out wanting to make a trilogy album or did they just write a ton of songs they liked and then came up with the 3 album idea? I just seemed like there wasn't any focus.
But yeah, Nightlife is far worse. There's like five songs from Dos that are probably in their bottom 10-15.
Stay The Night is the only song I've heard from the trilogy that I love. There's a lot of songs I haven't even heard. Just never find the urge to get around to them
Nightlife is by far the worst of the worst songs Green Day has ever written, recorded, and released. They've been my favorite band since 1994, and when I heard that song I felt like everything I knew just went out the window. So with that said, I like to pretend that Green Day didn't release anything in 2012, and there was just a really long gap between Breakdown and RevRad.
I'm looking at my phone's music and I don't see an album between 21CB and RevRad. I don't think they released anything.
Title track on 21st Century Breakdown is one of their best songs imo There's some good stuff on the rest of the album but nothing quite as good as that I still have a ton of nostalgia for that album though because it was the first time I saw them, plus my friends and I made a big deal of buying the CD on release day back in 7th grade or whatever
I do like that title track. Mainly bc its reminds me of AI. The rest of the album is bleh to me. I also remember liking Murder City a little bit. Thats about it.
No love for ¡Viva la Gloria! or The Static Age? Those are two pretty amazing tracks from 21CB for me. I named my kitten after VLG haha. Trilogy only has three or four songs I can come back to, hate Amy and See You There or whatever it is called
East Jesus Nowhere, ¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl), and Restless Heart Syndrome are killer tracks and the best on that album.
