Fine I'll post the album I made out of the trilogy 1. See You Tonight 2. 99 Revolutions 3. Stay the Night 4. Nuclear Family 5. Stray Heart 6. Kill the DJ 7. Let Yourself Go 8. Lazy Bones 9. X-Kid 10. Rusty James 11. Wow! That's Loud 12. Oh Love 13. Missing You 14. Dirty Rotten Bastards 15. Brutal Love Save for maybe a few songs you couldn't convince me that this wouldn't be a well-received album
Nuclear Family is my favorite on the trilogy. It's pretty throwback Green Day, imo. I do find the Trilogy way better than 21st Century Breakdown though. Now that's my least favorite Green Day album. I felt like they really dropped the ball with that album. Never will forgot how disappointed me and my friends were while listening to it when it came out. I tried giving it another chance a few days ago....nope, still don't like it. The East Jesus Nowhere bit with Will Ferrel was pretty funny though.
If that were true then they'd play them and they'd be received as such by fans ... they're not for a good reason imo.
God just seeing the song names again reminds me how bad those albums were. I will never understand how they thought that was a good idea ... they clearly have an ear for music and yet ... yeesh. "Kill the DJ" makes the Blink deluxe album look alright.
I haven't listened to the trilogy albums in a while, but I remember really liking Oh Love and Ashley in particular.
I think a big reason they're not playing them live is because of all the baggage wrapped up in that era. They even said in interviews they still like the songs, they just need to get some distance from them before they can play them. I really think time will be kind to the trilogy. A few of those songs deserve to be live staples imo.
I fell in love, but it didn't catch your fall Then I crashed, into a wall Then I fell to pieces on the floor Now you're sick to death Bombs away, here goes nothing The shouting's over Hey X-Kid, bombs away Here goes nothing The shouting's over and out Over and out again I mean what the hell were they thinking.
Oh don't get me wrong I'd still probably put the trilogy towards the bottom but I do still like it. Will absolutely never get the hate for 21CBD though, I fucking love that album. Maybe because it's the first time I saw them live
Sometimes fans and the masses get it right. They did with those albums. Thankfully we got a huge rebound record and it's a minor blimp in a stellar career.
Haha I'm not gonna convince you otherwise, but I've always loved the trilogy and genuinely don't think there's a bad song in the bunch.
Fine by me. They're still horribly written songs rightfully shunned by audiences and fans. Like whatcha like. Doesn't make the songs good.
I think my least favorite of the bunch are Drama Queen and 99 Revolutions, and those are still fine to me.
'21' is a bloated album but still more good than bad. It just doesn't have the kick as 'AI' or the breath of 'Warning.'
Heh, I think all of those are bad so we're just on different wavelengths. I tried going in thinking of it as a fun garage rock type album, but it never got better to me.
