Bands on TV (Week of October 3rd) 16 hours ago•Jason Tate You’ll find the following bands on your television screen this week: Norah Jones (Fallon; 10/5), Green Day (Fallon; 10/6), Sum 41 (Colbert; 10/3), Miike Snow (Conan; 10/4), OneRepublic (Ellen; 10/7).
They were on Howard this morning. I caught some of it and it was interesting, talking about the early years. I heard them play Welcome To Paradise and Bang bang.
They played a lot of stuff. I still have to check out the interview. I just heard the clips on Howard's website
This might be a dumb question but has the "Cigarettes and Valentines" album that was stolen in 2003 ever been leaked? I know that Green Day has played the title track on tour and it was on their 2nd live album and also read that one of the American Idiot B-sides was from that album but has any other songs ever been released?
Depends on whether or not you really believe that story is completely true. Even if it is, I'm sure they used ideas from it and incorporated them into songs we heard on American Idiot even through the trilogy.
Good point. It would be kind of strange if they had the master tracks stolen and said "eh let's just make a new album instead of re-recording everything". I do find it weird that it's been 13 years and the album has never been leaked. Maybe it was destroyed by mistake or maybe the band wasn't happy with the finished product and they got rid of it and used that excuse to stay in the studio?
That's what I've leaned towards over the years: I find it hard to believe they were stolen with no copies to salvage even a fraction of their work AND the person that stole them never bothers to release anything from those recordings after 12 years. It's more likely that the recordings were wiped or corrupted, and the guys just expanded upon some exaggeration that their recordings were taken from them.
Been revisiting the band in preparation for tomorrow. Wouldn't mind them doing another "side-project" band soon, I think The Network and Foxboro records were really solid.
I've kind of always taken the stolen tapes thing as a bit tongue-in-cheek, I don't believe for a second they were stolen
The Green Day kick I've been on this week has reminded me that When It's Time is a super underrated track.

I'm less surprised about this with how the trilogy did and it's reception, more surprised blink came back so strongly with a new member. Obviously Bored To Death did great and helped blink a lot. It didn't feel like there was that much buzz with this idk. Still, definitely wasn't expecting less than half of blink's numbers for sure.
