Just listened to this because I'm pretty sure I never made it through it the first time I heard it...I thought the female guest vocals on the first verse were cringe, and then I heard the second verse.
People often mention how warning is underrated (and I adore warning) but I think nimrod is weirdly the most underrated Green Day album, maybe one of the most underrated pop punk albums in general- it is so great and creative
The quality they achieved across the variety of sounds they explored on Nimrod is definitely underrated. You had some angry burners, some fun sequels to previous GD singles, a ska song, some Weezer-y nerd rock, and just a slightly more mature version of what they do best. Compare the tone/genre-hopping of Nimrod to the trilogy and it’s night and day; one seems to be coming from an endless spring of great ideas and the other feels thin and like a band whose run out of creative energy. Insomniac is still #1 for me though. It just rips through from beginning to end with straight ahead snotty and energetic Green Day songs and it has the most interesting artwork of any GD album, IMO.
Nimrod will forever be my favorite Green Day album Unless by some strange occurrence they release some late career masterpiece haha
Green Day always had some lowkey pretty great videos, TBH. They had at least one or two really fun ones from each album up through AI.
