As an aside, why do they need TWO additional guitars for BJA to play the Dookie songs? I can understand for the AI portion of the set as it's a more layered album but for Dookie isn't the whole point it's one guitar, bass with drums?
I don’t think it’s a “need.” I think they just like playing together vs having some members only play half a show.
With Green Day, I've always just assumed it was because Billie tends to want to do random shit with his hands at points. So it helps keep the sound thick and the song uninterrupted if he drops out.
That was my thought process behind that as well. Gives Billie Joe more freedom and everything still sounds good
Last night was awesome! 2 hours and 20 minutes on the dot pumping out song after song. Billie’s voice started to go in and out during the American Idiot portion but he powered through. Of all the Green Day shows I’ve seen since 2010, this was the best. Dookie and AI in full hearing some tracks they may never play again, Saviors songs sounding great, awesome stage visuals, etc etc. These guys are pros

Latest album deplores the z generation, which I find agreeing with: question is, are they right or are they just getting old? How long until the gen z'ers complain about their time being the "good old days"?
New PHGP is so fucking exciting, I never thought I would see the day And it’s a full album too, not just an EP! Their first full-length since 1997
Man listening to the two demos theyve put out for ai theyre already complete songs. Do we know it they did the demos with cavallo as well?
I think C&V has been (intentionally) mythologized, I'm pretty sure they just didn't really have much good stuff finished and wanted to start from scratch. I'd be willing to bet that they've already used at least the bones of the songs that were worth using in later songs
I’d at least just like the original studio recording (if there is one) of the title track. The live one on Awesome As Fuck is great, but it’d be great to hear a more polished studio version
This weekend I was pet-sitting for a family that attended the Denver date. Haha. Their daughter's a huge Green Day and I think even performed on guitar last year. Kid's living my dream. I got to go to a local beer and ska music festival on Saturday and that somewhat made up for missing this tour.
If you still have the ability to do so, check out the custom merch link they have at the shows. The commemorative ticket got Pittsburgh is really cool and I’m waiting on my custom shirt, but I was super happy to see they had more sizes online vs at the merch table.
