It really sounds like contractual obligations being fulfilled and I was in the same space on Green Day after how much the Broadway show annoyed me.
Not really, there's very little consensus on what the stinkers are (barring Fuck Time and Nightlife). The same is true for the opposite - a lot of people have condensed the three albums into one for their own enjoyment, and those playlists are rarely the same or too similar. I really don't think that argument has a leg to stand on.
I'm just saying that there's no consensus that all of the songs suck or WHICH songs are the ones that suck.
Which also means lots of people think lots of the songs suck ... polling 10 people and them all hating different songs means they all hate songs! Which is pretty good and fair and easy to understand reason to dislike an album compared of a weird iHeartRadio performance no one remembers 20 years later.
Yes, there's a consensus that the trilogy sucks, as a whole. I admit that! All I'm saying is those people have drank the kool-aid - WAKE UP SHEEPLE!
I don’t want to defend trilogy but I seem to like all the songs everyone else hates: Nightlife, Lazy Bones, Kill the DJ, Drama Queen, Amy.
My gut says FOAM. But this is based on how I feel about the albums vs any sort of measurement of success (album sales, ticket sales, etc.)
i like the trilogy, this song is my favorite, i also fuck with a lot with missing you, lazy bones, stray heart, x-kid and carpe diem alot!
I don't mean this as a dig, but I truly have never encountered someone liking "Nightlife." It's shocking
Lazy Bones is okay . Someone else said it - the trilogy as a whole is just aggressively mediocre, but more than that it sounds like they’re covering unreleased b sides of their power-pop influences like The Cars and Cheap Trick.
I've always enjoyed the trilogy, it was a fun release cycle, i liked the quatro dvd of the making and all the mini performances they did at tiny clubs. it was a cool era, plus it was a breath of fresh air for me, i didn't care much for 21 century, the singles known your enemy and 21 guns were super annoying and got murdered by the radio and that album is a whole is long and i could never finish it, it felt like a weaker AI so the trilogy was fun to me, easy to listen to and i never understood all the backlash it received, it was something different, maybe it was the shadow AI had over later releases or whatever but i love those albums, i bought each cd when it came out when i was working at best buy lol #memories
80 Sassafras Roots Who Wrote Holden Caulfield? Private Ale In the End I guess. I really don’t know fan base consensus on songs. But these are probably less asked for songs? I dunno.
I feel like everybody that listens to Green Day loves that song. But it would certainly qualify for mainstream fans. I don’t know.
Strange list, I’m pretty sure all those songs are fan favorites except maybe Misery which is def one of my favorites.
