Kinda sounds like theyre trying their best to go back to the ol American Idiot well after eating shit on the last record
I’m so happy they’re touring with Rancid I really hope there’s a Toronto date, or else I’m gonna have to head to Detroit or Buffalo lol
1. The American Dream is Killing Me 2 Look Ma, No Brains! 3. Bobby Sox 4. One Eyed Bastard 5. Dilemma 6. 1981 7. Goodnight Adeline 8. Coma City 9. Corvette Summer 10. Suzie Chapstick 11. Strange Days Are Here to Stay 12. Living in the ’20s 13. Father to a Son 14. Saviors 15. Fancy Sauce
It makes the $ hurt a lot more. FOB/Jimmy/Maine was a lot easier to stomach because I really want to see all three.
I'm torn on the openers. On the one hand, it's really cool that they're touring with the Pumpkins. On the other hand it means a shorter Green Day set. Rancid and the Linda Linda's are both great openers too... But they clash with the Pumpkins a bit. Haha. It's all cool. And I know I'll be trying to hit up a date if one comes near me. So I'm not complaining so much as I'm a bit conflicted/knowing it could have been a way cooler show somehow. LOL
Take out that little American Idiot mini-riff interjection at the end of each line during the verses and make the lyrics not include the word America and I could see this being a Nimrod era track. I’m cautiously optimistic for the other songs on this, especially having heard the other new track which is just a normal fun, fast GD song with no AI riff callbacks or weird sound effects. Cover is dope too.
Could be something, could be nothing. It's a fan-run account that seems pretty plugged in... And the phrasing seems too specific to just be purely made up (though it still could be LOL).
I just listened to the new single and I dig it. Get some strong 21CB vibes from it for sure. It’s kinda what I expected from a modern Green Day album. Looking forward to it!
I'm sure it was my massive headache and the fact I was on hour 10 of the festival...but this sounds way better now than it did live. Haha when I heard this live I was hating it. Sounded like an AI created green day protest song...but I dig it now.
Right?!! Lollapalooza is right in the middle of that! Blink and Green Day for Lolla in the same year?!! Wild times! JK. Curious to see how it pans out. Thinking about it, though... Given that the Pumpkins are in the mix on this one too... How would that influence venue selection/headliner status? Legit asking as I have no clue about the Pumpkins draw. But I could see a scenario where they skip Chicago with Green Day doing Riot and the Pumpkins doing their own headlining gig later or something. Yeah, the 21CB vibes are strong! It kinda feels like if 21CB were more urgent. A lot of that record falls flat for me because the band just sounds very uninspired, like they were trying to cos-play American Idiot or something and force that moment for a second time? This has a similar sound with an energy and urgency behind it.
