They might be playing American idiot in full tonight at wwwy 4 songs in and it’s the first 4 songs off of American idiot
Most cliche green day set you could ever imagine. Why are they still putting on the same show? I don't get it. Aren't THEY tired of it? Same songs. Same hey ohs, same "bring kid up to play knowledge", same jokes.... Don't get it man.
They just played a show a couple days ago with a totally different set list. A festival show is always going to be more of the classics and hits. I would wait for their next tour to judge their set.
At least they left off King For A Day. I personally wouldn't need masses of change to the songs, just a reduction of the drawn out elements. Would rather stick in Nice Guys Finish Last, Scattered, Walking Contradiction or another less common but not too unusual cut.
Yup. I left right after that. Haha. I was ready to leave when they played their intro music for like 10 minutes before coming out. And their “hey ho” stuff in the middle of just about every song and in between just about every song for old reeeeeal fast. Haha.
I’d rather have Green Day focus on retooling their set than a new album. Ain’t about song choices but bits. They are incredible live band, but man doing the same bits from intro, to hey ohs, kid dive during Know Your Enemy, extended break on Hitchin’, kid on guitar for Knowledge, etc for what 15-20 years now? And yes Homecoming was nice add yesterday but casual fans I went with (who do know the Green Day hits) were like “so felt like half the show was two super long songs, kids on stage, and hey ohs” Anyone else feel they are reaching a bit with stadiums? Assume it will be MLB parks with 40-50k vs football stadiums. Given how many people left after Blink last night I just don’t get the sense Green Day is THAT big. Or rather Smashing Pumpkins are big enough as top support.
I mean, what else are they going to do? I don’t disagree but GD hasn’t put out music that really resonated with the masses in quite awhile. They almost have no choice but to keep doing the same thing until they have some new music people want to hear live.
I’ve never seen Green Day but planning to finally change that on this next tour. I’m pretty excited to see this set everyone is groaning about lol
Honestly, I like everything they’ve put out aside from the majority of the trilogy/FOAM, so I’ll likely be satisfied with any set they could throw together lol
