I like that version better than the 39 Smooth version. When I was 13, I actually tracked down a copy of the Basket Case single on eBay just so I could have the Dookie version of it, haha
Also, I had no idea Letterbomb was an idea during Warning. I’ve learned more in this thread the past two weeks than I have the past decade. Haha
I don't know if I've listened to the original 409 in years lol but the rework is one of my favourite Green Day tunes
Yep, I did see something that it was also written for Nimrod too but wasn't recorded or demoed. Would make sense, they have history of sticking at songs until they're happy with them. When It's Time for instance written for Kerplunk, demoed for Dookie, demoed for Nimrod, recorded for American Idiot. I think the GD version that was on the Cast Soundtrack for the musical is a new version too. Look forward to the American Idiot deluxe if we get something like that!
Collected an album of Clusterbomb references above. The Green Day documentaries they've put out over the years are full of goldmines like this. Irrelevant of people's views on the trilogy, the Cuatro documentary is very good.
I think you're right about it being recorded in it's own session. It was demo'd for Dookie and properly recorded afterwards the original version is the best!
I really expected that IsGreenDayAwake website to be a fake based on BJA's hatred of people asking him if he was awake in October in the past but that showed me. I've had enough of teasers with clocks and calendars though!
