yes! His voice has clearly changed over the years. Not all at once on FOAM lol. And yes there are more vocal effects on FOAM but nothing that makes him sound as unrecognizable as you’re making it seem. People said the same shit about 21CB and the trilogy. It’s different but still clearly him.
Seriously haha. Like, because I haven't listened to the trilogy in full, I can't have any opinion on his voice? That's the most nitpicky bullshit I've ever read hahaha.
So what are you arguing if you're now admitting it's "clearly changed"? And now admitting everyone has been pointing this out and noticing it? You're agreeing with me now.
you were only arguing that it changed on FOAM, not that it’s been changing slowly over the years?????
For a band that's been around since 1987, they have a remarkably strong track record in general. The Kerplunk to American Idiot run is absolutely wild when you think about it.
It did change on FOAM, from your own words: And yes there are more vocal effects on FOAMThe way they mixed the vocals is unlike how they did before. You know this is true, you've said it in this very thread! And it's been something everyone's talked about for years:
BJ has a very distinct voice, even if it's aged over the years. It's not like he's gone from sounding like Whitney Houston to Tony Bennett overnight, ya ding dongs.
Just here to rep my love for Kerplunk. Brilliant songs all around! I'd love to hear them play some more of those songs live, give 'em a bit more love than they usually get. It's a very lovely transitional record from 39/Smooth (also underrated, I love it more than most) to Dookie & I really appreciate that aspect of its sound & songwriting.
it is truly not that different than the filters used on the trilogy or RevRad, and I’ve never denied people have talked about that for years. I’ve been in those conversations. the major differences are the kind of pop flourishes and editing that Butch Walker does on the vocals from time to time on the record. But he sounds like himself throughout imo.
Baby... Like I said, I haven't listened to 21st Century Breakdown, the trilogy, or Revolution Radio front to back, but I've heard singles and other songs from each of them, and didn't enjoy those songs enough to take the time to listen to the albums in full. Why would I listen to an entire album front to back if the singles/random others songs didn't grab me? Especially with Green Day, who probably isn't even in my top 50 most listened to bands haha.
This shit is weird. You wouldn't! That's literally what I'm saying. You not liking the band or not listening to them makes you literally uneducated on the topic. That's my entire point.
Sorry, my James Dean-esque impression didn't translate well Uneducated on what topic? His voice sounding like normal BJ vs sounding different/higher on some of the songs on FOAM? I know what his voice sounds like, man. I don't know what else to tell you. At first, I thought you were joking about all this because it's so gatekeepery/absurd. Why do you even care so much? Sorry I don't listen to or like Green Day as much as you, I guess? Who cares?
