I mean, they’ve talked about how much they love it and there’s no reason for me to doubt their sincerity but yeah, feels like we’re listening to totally different albums lol
I like how they made his voice sound on FOAM, personally. I don't think he sounds unrecognizable the entire album though. There's a few where he's singing higher than normal, but there's some songs that sound like classic BJ. It's at least less jarring than when The Ataris went from So Long Astoria to Welcome the Night.
Remember when FOAM first came out and people SWORE that it was a fake album and that the "real" one would be coming out soon after or something? haha. Buncha nerds.
Honestly, the band loving it has nothing to do with the quality of the lyrics or music. It’s their music, they can feel whatever they want.
You've given me a quote I'm coming back to every time now. If your most played album is FOAM and you haven't spent time with a massive part of their catalog, of course you'd say this!
Oh sweet baby Jason... Just because I haven't listened to all of 21st Century Breakdown, the trilogy, and Revolution Radio each front to back doesn't mean I don't know what he sounds like.
There's like, one song I like on FOAM ("Graffitia"), and even that is pretty meh in the overall standing of their catalog for me.
It means you're literally uneducated on the topic you're talking about! You haven't even listened to a massive part of the band's catalog and you're making statements as universal while admitting you're ignorant of hundreds of their songs! This is madness! It's like reading two pages of a book and declaring yourself able to discuss an author!
Green Day is my favorite band and I have listened to each album a million zillion times because I’ve been obsessed since I was 10 years old and Billie’s voice does not sound drastically different on FOAM, I’m sorry!
I feel like his voice has generally gotten higher over the years, for what it's worth. Then again it was pretty high in the early pre-Dookie days, but then again he was a literal child. Idk lol
Yes, sorry I wasn’t clear. I agree with your point or at least find it likely as I don’t think the band has said why they didn’t play any songs on that tour. But while we agree there, I don’t think it changes anything about the quality of the album itself.
Earlier, it sounded like you also haven’t listened to 1,039 or Kerplunk. That’s 7 albums you don’t listen to.
I've listened to Kerplunk a handful of times. Not sure if I've listened to 1,039 more than once or twice though.
Ok so? Doesn't mean I don't know what the singer's voice sounds like 99.9% of the time? Especially since I've listened to at least a handful of songs from all of those albums I haven't listened to front to back haha
Brad knows what the Green Day guy sounds like lol. Isn’t the point y’all are trying to make that he’s straying from his iconic instantly recognizable vocal stylings?
It's one of the most discussed topics on their Reddit for years. Like ... every single Green Day message board has been talking about it for a long time. He's not only very clearly singing differently, but Butch Walker used more effects (and compressed the hell out of those things) than the Rob years. It's very clearly different and been changing and that's why everyone talks about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/greenday/comments/740z6j/billies_voice/ https://www.reddit.com/r/greenday/comments/f26mvs/billie_joes_voice_gets_worse_lately/ https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...usg=AOvVaw1tm3pzhoUtsMvRDfFbYIj1&opi=89978449
To be fair, the only albums Brad's heard are the ones everyone here's arguing are the only ones worth a shit.
