I need to cleanse myself after listening to this bullshit. I’m gonna listen to history books for the 100th time right now lol
As an aside, if anyone happens to have a transcript of the Blink 182/Green Day cover story from Alternative Press in 2002, would love to be able to revisit that.
I think the way you said that his lyrics are all equally good or bad was just a really big reach. I don’t think anybody would say every lyrics of his has been good. But to say it’s all basically the same quality is odd.
I'm just trying to process that I was told an iconic song of the genre is bad songwriting cause it references masturbation Does my mom have a burner account on here
You both really misinterpreted what I said, and I just think it's a sign that people have their viewpoints and it's hard to not parse things through that lens.
To clarify, I'm not suggesting that all of their lyrics are of equal quality, but I am suggesting their lyrics now are not the humongous drop in quality that people are making them out to be. And I'm not suggesting that "Longview" is a bad song. I love that song. I'm not even saying it's a bad lyric. It's not a great lyric, but it's a lyric that works in the song. I'd love to know how many people who think Green Day lyrics suck now feel the same kind of way about the new Blink.
I’m so happy to see some more FOAM and trilogy enjoyers come out of the woodwork. You are safe. You are loved. ❤️
Of the new blink I’ve heard, they’re good. They have a heart to them. FOAM has trash lyrics. As I said earlier, it all feels like a facade. Obviously, not every song needs to be sincere or autobiographical by any means. But there’s writing from a different perspective and then there’s shallow nonsense disguised as being REAL ROCK!
I really do think you’re letting the promo cloud your judgment of the actual music because it is very much not that imo
The problem with the actual music is it's bad and Billie forgot how he sung for three decades. It's ok though, he figured it back out.
I dunno, shallow or not, I think clearly the band members have a real love for this kind of music, or they wouldn't keep tapping that well in various forms. It's vapid, fun music. I get it. It's got no meaning to it beyond it existing, but I guess it depends on how okay you are with music that's only for music's sake and not some deeper meaning or concept.
I just saw Jason's secret Last.fm account. He's scrobbled the fuckkkkk out of FOAM the last few months. damn dude! save some for the rest of us!
He sings like he's got his balls in a vice for that for the whole stupid album! That dumb filter they put on his vocals makes it sound like a different person entirely.
I think it’s assuming a lot to say they love it. Enjoyed experimenting? Sure. But the fact that they didn’t play a single FOAM song on Hellamega makes me think they’ve moved way on from that.
