Yeah it sounded like it was a full, completed album before it just mysteriously disappeared. If it were ever to see the light of day, I’m sure it would be a proper studio recording, as opposed to half-baked demos. At least they played the title track during the 21CB tour
I would assume it sounds in the vein of "Maria" and "Poprocks & Coke"...so a little heavier than Warning but still in that realm. Fascinating to think about, I bet it rules.
The album disappeared just as mysteriously as a huge, punchy commercial juggernaut appeared in its place…
It was more or less completed. This picture, from the director of the American Idiot documentary, is presumably a lot of C&V. 5 released as b-sides, 2 as Foxboro Hot Tubs, 2 songs that were seemingly revived for later albums, a Rolling Stones cover that dates back to Nimrod, and a few other mystery songs
Based on the quality of the title track (which I do like) it will not be better than everything post AI but will still be pretty damn good.
I just listened to Warning (hence my post) for the first time in forever and I’m actually not a huge fan of it
My favorites used to be Dookie or Nimrod but now is Warning for sure. Also, Warning is not only my favorite, but the last album where I recognize the band as I knew it.
