As long as the live albums are put on Spotify, it’s whatever. I have Dookie on vinyl and it sounds good.
It feels like records have been extra expensive lately while one of the justifications for their price being worth it (resale value) has diminished. Last few 2xLP limited releases I’ve bought have been like $30-50 from label and immediately available for $20 on Discogs. I might see if I can buy the Dookie box at a discount second hand.
Looks like it's dropping on 9/29. And one of the live sets is Woodstock '94. TBH, I think this is a flub on the band's part. They could have included another live set from that era instead and re-released that Woodstock LP in the summer around the time the festival actually took place. I guess it's probably easier to just take one of what they already had than pull another, get permissions from the folks who originally recorded it, find the original, clean it up, etc. Still stoked on this. Just wish it were something I didn't already have for one of the two live sets!

Wonder if they are planning on a 20th anniversary for AI since they are releasing Dookie this year. Even though they released Nimrod earlier this year.

Maybe beginning of 2024 and then release the 20th for AI in Sept of 2024. That’s 5 Green Day albums in 2 years, especially with the higher prices on the anniversary albums they are asking a lot from their fans.
Also it's crazy that the song "When It's Time" dates back to the Dookie days. Would have been super gutsy to release that song on Dookie but it probably was for the best to save it for later.
They had a demo if When It’s Time on their Nimrod anniversary set. I have to think it’s different from that one which means Billie had been working on it for 10 plus years before they released it.
Hopefully they include the original album, Cigarettes and Valentines (before it got “stolen”), along with the demos for AI in it and a few live shows.
This is a fun release, not a vinyl collector or anything so don’t care about any of that, but the last part of that email blast has me very interested. I need a tour
