If you play for 30-50k people a night, I think you’ll always play the hits setlist. I don’t see their setlist changing unless they drop back down to arenas or start doing smaller shows again.
I mean I understand the reasoning but with a catalogue that deep and a 3 hour show there should be room for at least some variety over the last 10 years…I remember seeing them pre-AI and they would take audience requests…they should do like a non hits club show tour
Idk it’s honestly not too heartening because they’ve occasionally pulled weird shit out at festivals over the last few years, but they always return to a standard set. I hope bands like MCR, FOB and now even Weezer playing a more varied setlist influences them. Because we know they can do it, the 2010 summer tour was amazing because you never knew what you were gonna get. And the club shows leading up to the trilogy were probably their peak for setlists imo.
There’s been multiple tours where a few songs rotated in and out. I think they do a good job pulling songs from all their albums and playing the hits/some older more obscure stuff. I do hope the next bigger tour they do it gets more varied again
Club shows would of course be awesome but I bet the economics of it make it highly unlikely. They’re just such a huge band they almost have to play arenas to justify whatever their fee is for playing a show. They’d have to want to take a pay cut and be okay with the exclusivity of club shows (not to mention the insane scalper prices it would bring)…but maybe they’d be cool with that at some point.
Would love to see that again. I feel like I’ve seen a good variety of sets but I also think I’ve been lucky and gotten to go to a good number of club shows
Definitely into it. Kinda wish there was a soundboard recording... Wonder if them playing it live means that a single or some other announcement is immanent?
The vocal melody in the verse reminds me of "Church on Sunday" at points. Hard to tell how it's going to sound recorded, but this has me feeling optimistic.
Excited to hear it. Jealous of anyone who was there and also got Stuart and the ave and the grouch in the set list
