Know Your Enemy feels wayyyy longer than it is. It’s only 3 minutes long but I swear it feels like 5 minutes. That’s what repetition does.
Also everytime I hear East Jesus Nowhere all I can think of is Will Ferrel banging the cowbell and asking the band if the song was over when it wasn’t. Too funny.
It probably took them 5 minutes to write it. It's listenable, but just so simple. It's like Alkaline Trio's "This Addiction" to me lol something they could write in their sleep
Yeah I have no idea why Know Your Enemy is the only song from that album that they still play (besides bringing 21 Guns back for Hella Mega), agreed that it's easily the worst song on the album
Nowadays I agree that Know Your Enemy is one of their weakest songs, but when I was 10 I heard it in the trailer for Jackie Chan's The Spy Next Door and I thought it was the coolest song I had ever heard. And that's basically how I fell in love with music haha. So I really can't argue against it being a single.
Know Your Enemy, besides being a good song, is worth it just for the callback later in the album. I love shit like that.
Listened to 21CB on my run today. Album rules. It's probably 2-3 tracks too long, but there's a lot of great stuff on there.
For me 21CB is flawed in that as a whole it’s very enjoyable, but it’s too long for me to want to ever listen to as a whole. But I don’t really listen to any of the songs individually, because there aren’t many standouts that I ever feel like coming back to on their own
