Having a Super Bowl at all right now is gross. This sucks.

    Get ready for some FOAM!

They should actually play Nice Guys though. Just watched Varsity Blues. Love that song.

Green Day should honestly avoid performing anything post American Idiot.

There's an out-of-control pandemic and thousands are dying in the US a day. You might've heard about it?

Sports have been going on for a long time during the pandemic. No reason not to play the game. Limited fans so it shouldn't be an issue.

There are good songs on all the albums after American Idiot.

21st Century Breakdown and Revolution Radio are both good albums

I think it's time to retire. Everything save a few songs here and there have been iffy at best since American Idiot.

But good songs a casual audience would give a shit about? Nah. You gotta play the hits at these sort of events.

You must not be paying attention to what it's been like in Florida. Having the Super Bowl there is remarkably irresponsible.

Limited crowd is bullshit. Having any fans at all in any of these stadiums is boneheaded and endangers lives, given what we know about open air transmission in a crowded place and how people congregate before, during, and after games.

+ parties. I know it's not going to be the dramatic spikes of the holidays but dummies will still gather.

Ultimately, the super bowl isn’t any worse than all the public gatherings that have taken place across the US over the past year or whatever. Nobody spoke shit about the virus when everyone gathered in the streets to protest last summer. Malls, restaurants, bars, beaches, parks are all open to the public now. One football game isn’t gonna make things any worse at this point.

That is a ridiculous argument. "All other ill-advised public gatherings are ALSO spreading the virus, so it's fine to have another massive one in one of the worst-controlled areas of the country and encourage folks from around the US to travel there and back."

There's a huge difference in public safety between masked protest and a drunken party. Namely, the amount of viral transmission. Look up fluctuations in cases from bars vs the protests.

So mask are good then? So concerts and sporting events with masks are same as protest right?

    Slippery slope argument | logic

You're clearly a troll, but I'll indulge you.

I personally feel that everyone should stay home for three straight weeks and keep our vulnerable safe, and that the government should have done the things needed to support us, so that our national per capita death totals could have stayed closer to New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.

In the absence of that support, one would imagine that folks should do everything possible to limit unnecessary exposure. Large gatherings aren't good, inside or outside, and any situation where you're encouraged to take the mask off is an especially poor choice.

It seems that the racial justice protests didn't cause a major spike in COVID-19, which is not what I would have expected. It's unfortunate that we live in a society where we have to choose between public health and civic engagement (voting, protests). But no, going to a concert or a shitty Super Bowl party isn't the same thing.

I'm a troll? California has locked down the most of any state and it did nothing.

THe lockdowns in California actually worked great early on. They got through the first wave a lot better than a lot of state did. And then they let up too early, Newsome did a hypocritical thing that pissed everyone off, and half the people stopped actually following the guidelines.
