Been tracking ticket prices in Milwaukee, Detroit, and Cincinnati. I live in Chicago but the leftover Wrigley prices are astronomical. I have to see this tour because my now-wife and I both blacked out at the Hella Mega Tour at Wrigley in 2021 and I spilled the beans to her that I had asked her folks for her hand in marriage. We desperately need a mulligan lol.
Probs wont happen, but Im hoping they do a longer show in mine for being the laste one lol Also, it seems the show lasted 2 hours 15 minutes according to setlistfm. I made a playlist on Spotify and it stands at 2 hours 2 minutes. Still not sure how they will fit all 4 opening bands with the shows starting at 6.30
Seeing this in 3 weeks in the UK. Dookie (or more specifically a mix cassette with Burnout, Chump, Longview and Basketcase) was literally the music that altered my music taste forevermore. So as much as the album playthroughs can sometimes feel a bit stale to me, this is one I'm psyched about. I'd take Hitchin' a Ride over a couple of the Saviours tracks though but realistically this covers nearly everything and sure to be tremendous.
Hitchin' A Ride would come with 10 minutes of weird crowdwork shit so I'm fine with them not playing it. I'd also cut Minority for the same reason.
Nah. Give me 1981 or Strange Days. Honestly though, I’m just thankful they aren’t playing Father to a Son.
Tonight at Rock Am Ring they didnt perform the full albums nor in order, which is odd as from the schedule of the festival they had 2 hours 20 mintes. But they added Hitchin' a Ride, so maybe they will change the songs played in between Dookie and American Idiot
Interestingly, the set list had the full albums printed. And even with all the shuffling the band cut the set short by ~10 minutes (which isn't like them). After doing some digging nobody seems to know exactly what happened except that: (A) the sound wasn't great and the screens broadcasting the performance kept randomly cutting out, (B) Billie walked to the side of the stage to talk to the stage crew a few times during the set for a minute or two each time, (C) Billie's voice supposedly sounded "shaky," and (D) "Jesus of Suburbia" was interrupted mid-song for a bit due to a medical emergency in the crowd. I guess the sound hasn't been great at the festival shows they've been doing. So I wonder if he's been straining a bit more than usual? Sounds like they cut it short to avoid blowing his voice out if A-C are true. Could also be why they added "Hitchin' A Ride" and bumped "Minority" up. Doing all the low vocal effort crowd engagement songs earlier would give him a mid-set rest maybe? Pure speculation but... It would make sense to me?
On a more positive note, apparently the Rock AM Ring set tonight is going to be streamed here (VPN needed for it, though; I'm sure it'll pop-up online somewhere shortly thereafter haha).
Putting it in spoilers so people who might want to be surprised get the surprise but about the stage set-up for American Idiot... During the final breakdown part of "Brain Stew" the hand/hand grenade balloon inflates behind them and they go right into "American Idiot." It looks cool as hell. Haha.
My friend got drunk tonight and decided to go hard on online gambling. He won $10,000 and bought us tickets to this to celebrate, so I guess I’m seeing Green Day next month lol
It's so nice to have a new Green Day album and not only being excited about seeing the new songs... But feeling like I'll be sad if they cut them. Haha.
Got an email today and like I suspected the start time for the show was pushed forward from 6:30 to 5:30. Makes a lot more sense
