I don't think it's comparable in terms of impact, sales likely well short also. Compare the number of hits on each. Viva was big but i don't remember it being like a year plus of continuous hits like AI had, Viva has the title track alone.
Nickelback is actually a good call here. Wouldn't have thought of that that but for the 2-3 year period of release then maybe. Though not as global as AI.

Yeah, I think that one did like 20 million worldwide, to American Idiot's 23. So, not as big, but at least comparable in terms of number of hits and the long tail.
