It is a classic situation of “just write more lyrics for your chorus.” But I really like the vibe/melody of that song.
Fair point. There are several tracks on this album that I'd gladly put on amongst the classic GD vs almost none from anything post AI up to this release. I guess it's just that Saviors is my 6th or 7th GD album by ranking amongst a magnificent discography. So it's all context really. Not bad in and of itself.
Finally got to the bonus tracks too and they're really solid, Stay Young and Ballyhoo are really good and Smash It and Underdog are fun. Fuck Off is kinda goofy lol
yeah it's not in my top 5 or anything, I just think it has a pretty high ceiling for a band 30 years deep in their discog haha Stay Young is almost great but god that hook gets repetitive, really needed literally any other words in there just to break it up
Pls have FIDLAR produce their next album. Just making things a little messier elevates the soul of the song, even a kinda weak song.
A year or two pre-pandemic, I saw Sugar Ray at this tiny venue in Pasadena California. Towards the end of the show, Art Alexakis from Everclear comes out from the wings of the stage and they announced that he’s gonna help sing a Sugar Ray song. Everyone is excited and clapping and the sugar ray guitarist pulls this exact same move as this kid at the Green Day concert and starts playing the opening riff to Santa Monica and it could’ve been a well acted bit, but Art Alexakis looked immediately uncomfortable and he told him to stop. Lol.
Correction: Art Alexakis came out and played the song with Lit who opened for Sugar Ray. Here’s the video:
jamming the bonuses for saviors for the first time and belushi and ballyhoo are really great, kinda clear the rest but ill take em
My four-year-old daughter had been humming this song she heard at a Coffee Bean for a couple days and none of my siblings nor my wife nor my mom could guess what it was so they finally asked me late in the process to step in and hear what this song was that she was humming and within a few seconds, I identified it correctly as so what by Pink. Lol. So later that day she requested that I play the pink song in the car. I did. Then I told her hey there’s another song that kind of sounds a lot like this one. Maybe you’ll like it. So I put on one eyed bastard and I think 30 seconds in I lowered the volume all the way, and I told her actually this might not be a good one to listen to because they just used some bad words. Lol
This entire story is very weird: Will Smith's concert crowds are real, but AI is blurring the lines - Waxy.org
They've been throwing some Nimrod deep cuts into the set on their South American tour that they haven't played in 20+ years! So far they've played The Grouch, Redundant and as of last night Haushinka
Found out that a former coworker's friend's husband is piloting these guys for the South American tour. Hoping to get an autograph or something.
Oh wow Haushinka is such a win i see it was the first time since 1997!!! Hope it's not too long before I get to see them again following their 2024 UK tour. I remember having a bootleg VHS with concerts from their Nimrod tour including one at the London Astoria which I believe was a 2k capacity and not even a special promo show. Incredible to think that was the case by the late 90s.
