I think it’s a fine album that has some good to great songs and more of the just-kind-of-decent songs. I don’t think it justifies its long tracklist like, say, “Nimrod,” that has such a variety of sounds. I also think “Father To Son” is a super corny clunker. “Dilemma” is still the MVP.
I'm so happy with how good this is! To me it sounds like a perfect combo of the AI/21st sound and the classic GD sound mixed in with just the right amount of the garage/rock&roll of the trilogy and FOAM... so a combo of everything I guess. Billie has his best lyrics in years and also sings his ass off, you can tell he was really passionate about this one. Some of Mike's most prominent basslines in years too and Tre kicks ass the whole album like always Besides the singles, all of which I love, the biggest standouts to me so far are Bobby Sox (goes hard af), Suzie Chapstick (absolutely beautiful melody and the production on the chorus is gorgeous - I can't think of another song by them with this vibe) and Strange Days (which reminds me of Letterbomb in the best way) So glad that I'm not on here fighting for my life about this album like I usually find myself doing with Green Day haha. Can't fucking wait for the tour
Honestly, the trilogy album era scared me away from any new material by Green Day, lol. So I haven't followed closely for a while. But out of curiosity, I gave Saviors a listen and - damn, it's so catchy; way better than I expected. Contemplating picking it up on vinyl.
Probably the best Billie’s vocals have sounded in quite a while. There’s a punch to them and they don’t sound lifeless and muddy like a previous album
It's just super refreshing to have an album by them that's not universally hated. As a fan I couldn't be happier with the band right now
Go on Reddit and argue with the people saying Saviors is not as good as 21CB, the definitive best Green Day record.
