DO YOU WANNA BE MY BOYFRIEND. Someone else said this too but I love how much Billie screams on this album, didn’t know he had it in him
I would say this isn’t anywhere close to peak Green Day, but it’s better than most of the autopilot Green Day stuff that’s come out since American Idiot, so that’s good. There’s like 5 or 6 songs that I’d be happy to skip, but another 5 or so that I’ll listen to many more times. I really like screamy Billie. More of that going forward please!
American Dream, Corvette Summer and Father would get dropped by me. Saviors is unremarkable but fine. Bastard is fun if I turn my brain off and I can enjoy it. 1981 chorus is eh but the first verse is so Warning melodically. Everything else, not many notes and is great. Love that the outro of Fancy Sauce gets progressively Weezier as it goes. Very good album.
FOAMF, the vibe, is a very strong spice you sprinkle on to a rock record and FOAMF, the album, is the cinnamon challenge on steroids.
there's a clip here (track 16) - Green Day/セーヴィアーズ Feel this too. I think in the streaming age bands tend to err on the side of extra songs since it'll only help their chart position
So weird loving Green Day songs right off the bat and not having to try to talk myself into it Truly never thought it would happen again
So keen to see them live again but does anyone think they might do a smaller arena tour next year? Or we reckon this pumpkins run is gonna be it for a while? It’s such a shame they’ve committed to this mega tour that seems to be what nobody wanted … yes the anniversary sets will be great but the endless openers and $400 seats are just not it …
I keep getting Look Ma stuck in my head, but my brain mashes it with their Outsider cover from Shenanigans. I don't know how similar they actually are, but my brain thinks they're the same
I think I like this album more than 21st Century Breakdown. It's def not in that 1994-2004 Green Day tier, but it's their most solid album in the past 15 years, I think.
My favorite part of this album is when the main character Adeline drifts into Coma City and must take the Corvette to rescue Suzy Chapstick and usher in the strange days.
