Blue Pinkerton Maladroit Those are my top 3 and I think the ones that sound like a rock band making songs together and not a weird little guy making his little songs in his little basement.
I love Van Weezer. Weezer isn’t a band I search out but I played the shit out of their songs on Rock Band!
I'm only tracking the Fenway show, so I wasn't aware other dates seem to be selling poorly. This one is doing decidedly better than Hella Mega was at this point, and better than Blink in the same stadium. I'm quite surprised at how well it's sold, overall. I'm definitely in the camp of vastly preferring the Hella Mega lineup. Smashing Pumpkins has never done anything for me. That said, I'm still gonna make the trip because of the Dookie/AI combo. Those AI tours were some of my favorite shows ever, and I can't pass up a chance to hear the record in full now that it's become even more important to me with time.
How are you tracking? If I search for seats in a specific criteria for both shows the Green Day one shows more tickets available.
The lineup sucks big time because my 7 year old daughter has a vague interest in Rancid (she sings Ruby SoHo at her School of Rock) and I think it would be cool to take her to this show to see the Linda Linda’s so she could see women with instruments hanging with men and it wouldn’t be out of place for her at all. But fuck, if she has to sit through an hour of Billy Corgan, I may as well just bring AirPods for her and let her watch Frozen for 90 minutes between Rancid and Green Day.
I tried to track how blink was doing at Fenway but since the tickets aren’t being sold directly by Ticketmaster (they are sold directly by mlb.com) I find trying to track it extremely difficult. Maybe I’m just doing something wrong though.
I feel about this album the way I do about a bunch of recent back-from-a-long-hiatus records (Gaslight, Marvelous 3, Matchbox Twenty) which is that these guys sound really excited just to be making music together again. The pandemic didn’t give us many good things, but I think a lot of bands realized how much they love what they do and how much they should cherish the simple opportunity of getting to do it.
Listened to One More Time early and it kind of took the fun away from listening to it for the first time on release day. Proud to say I’ve only listened to the singles on Saviors. Please clap.
Oddly enough, my 6 year old daughter’s favorite band is Smashing Pumpkins, so my wife and I are bringing her to this tour for her first concert. Haha.
For those waiting until tonight, it will soon be your turn to: - discuss this album - rank Weezer albums We will be rooting for you!!!
