Vague political songs that don’t actually take a real stance on anything are my least favorite type of Green Day song (Revolution Radio, Know Your Enemy)
Pretty good sounding rip of Look Ma, No Brains https://www.reddit.com/r/greenday/c...p&utm_name=ioscss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1
A few folks seem to dig Revolution Radio but I thought it was lazy and very much by the numbers. I've not loved any of their albums since AI. The new song is ok but I think it might get old very quick.
they weren’t actually racist. People like to say they were cause they said “no trap beats.” They also said “no Swedish songwriters.” Cringey, yes, but to say they’re outright racist is silly.
Song is awesome, looking forward to it. This site is oddly super critical of Green Day yet super forgiving of Blink 182 stuff, but I guess that goes without saying.
Sure. But, people loving a band a ton and saying they get a pass on their bad material are different things.
Also, the reason these forums exist is because of blink. They are kind of important for the vast majority of people in the scene.
I’m just so fucking happy that it really feels like they’re trying again with this one. Everything about the last album, from the rollout to the videos to the album itself, felt very throwaway but this one feels like they’re all in again So happy that my favorite band is back
Really love both the new songs, and agreed that it feels like they are going max effort with this release. I’ll be stoked if we are getting some awesome later-career surges from blink and GD at the same time. Love both these bands so much.
Woah. Look Ma, No Brains sounds like prime Green Day. I think someone likened it to Maria and yeah I can totally see that.
If you cut 21CB down to: 1. Know Your Enemy 2. !Viva La Gloria! 3. Before the Lobotomy 4. Last Night on Earth 5. East Jesus Nowhere 6. Peacemaker 7. Last of the American Girls 8. Murder City 9. 21 Guns 10. See the Light You got yourself a real great record. Instead of one that is somehow 12 minutes longer than American Idiot and 20 minutes longer than Nimrod. It's not as good as Nimrod but it is overstuffed and could be paired down to something fantastic like Nimrod.
Song of the Century and 21st Century Breakdown kicking off the record is great though, and See the Light as the closer ties into 21CB as the opener. I could nitpick every track in between, but I think omitting 21CB as the opening track is the biggest thing to call out here.
