Same! My expectations have been pretty tempered for everything post-21CB. I've been pleasantly surprised a grand total of once since then (Revolution Radio being said-pleasant surprise) and this feels like it has potential to top that.

Midnight on Thursday can't get here soon enough!

  3. Not like it was that hard to do given what came after AI, but it is very good that they did it.

I think someone else mentioned it but the promo cycle for this album has been quite impressive....Green Day has been everywhere the last few weeks!

Doing a discography run this week to get ready for Friday.

The Nimrod re-release from last year has a live album from that era that absolutely fucking OWNS. So many great songs that have fallen off their setlist. Highly recommend it as an appetizer for Saviors.

My one complaint about the Nimrod re-release is they left off the 4 songs that were bonus tracks for the Australian version (Suffocate, Desensitized, Do Da Da, You Lied) which DO appear on Shenanigans but would have made more sense to include them here as well for completists (simlar to how Dookie re-release has JAR and what not).

I agree with this complaint...listening to the songs off Shenanigans, it sounds like Suffocate, Desensitized, Sick of Me, Espionage and Rotting are from the Nimrod sessions. Do Da Da and You Lied don't sound like they're from the Nimrod sessions...despite them being included as bonus tracks. And there's like 9 other unreleased songs from those sessions, too. It's a good reissue but feels like they held back a lot.

I remember being really pleasantly surprised by Tre, after thinking Uno was pretty boring and Dos was largely terrible. But that was a matter of very low expectations.

I haven’t loved a Green Day album since American Idiot, although Revolution Radio is pretty solid even if it never really reaches greatness and is ultimately forgettable.

I’m not expecting to be blown away in the slightest but I am SO ready for a fun and catchy Green Day album that doesn’t overstay its welcome or sound anything like FOAM.

Oh, I'm mostly just talking about my expectations for the albums based on pre-release singles, interviews, general lead-up, etc. With the Trilogy, I was looking forward to each release but also left feeling like they just didn't have anything substantive to say which kinda simmered any excitement I might have had for the releases as a whole.

By the time Tre rolled around I was just sorta over the whole project. Hah.

This whole rollout feels like the band is reinvigorated in every sense of the word. You can hear it in the interviews they're doing, the way they're talking about things, etc. They're just being a lot more open about everything this time around which has only helped with the enthusiasm/wait for the record, I think.

Reading the reviews that are out, seems like this is a good album that could be disappointing if your expectations are too high. So, I am trying to temper expectations on what the other 11 songs sound like and how it all adds up as a whole album. A little better than Rev Road would technically mean “the best since American Idiot” so that’s where I am staying.

I genuinely adore 21st Century Breakdown, so if it's better than that, I'll be very happy.

I haven't listened to all of the clips. But based on the ones I've heard plus the singles... At least seven of this songs on this album are ones I wouldn't mind finding their way into the setlist. So that's a strong win.

The only one that I didn't really care for is "One-Eyed Bastard." But even that song feels better and is more fun than other similar attempts on recent albums (e.g., Say Goodbye, Fire Ready Aim, Oh Yeah).

Post AI, I think Rev Rad is their best effort beyond a paired-down 21CB.

If this really is better than both of those, I can’t wait. The reviews certainly all say so, even more than they did for One More Time prior to the Blink release, so I’m encouraged.

Listened to RevRad last week for the first time in a long time. A lot of good songs on there, but anyone else feel like the mixing and mastering is absolute dogshit?

If it's on par with Rev Rad I'd be thrilled. That's the bar for me.

After the listening party, I do think this will likely surpass RevRad for me. It’s a really fun record that sees the band doing what they do best and not taking themselves so seriously, in a good way.

Can’t really see it being better than 21CB, but I’ll take best since that for sure

I'd just like to agree that Suffocate is a killer b-side, that hook is so good

As someone who paid zero attention to Rev Road and FOAM when they came out, I have listened to each of those albums three times in the past week and rather enjoy them. I know FOAM gets killed around here, but outside of the first two tracks, I think it's good, harmless GD album.

    I don't feel any shame, I won't apologize.

It reminds me a bit of Saves the Day’s Sound the Alarm where it kinda sounds like the best version of the band and has the “energy” that was missing from the previous album but something is just off. Like an audio version of uncanny valley but I know nothing about mastering or recording so I don’t have the terminology to label it.
