So did Jimmy Eat World (no real point here other than this thread made me look into this and I simply didn’t know and now I’m shook)

During which Gerard literally said that American Idiot was a big influence on them, and that Wake Me Up's film clip inspired The Ghost of You film clip.

The Green Day/Jimmy, with…Against Me, I wanna say? was my first show ever. I was in 6th grade, and it was amazing.

  7. Between those two, I’d pick Dear You every time, personally.

I went to two legs of the American Idiot tour. First was NFG and Sugarcult, which was great. Second was just MCR, and it was wild. They played a full 16 song set. It was basically a headliner for them at the time.

When I saw MCR open for Green Day it was a standard 45 minute support set.

Man I really should take the leap and finally check out Jawbreaker, I don't really know any of their stuff but I always see them talked about alongside my favorite bands

I first got turned into them after reading about them being an influence on Alkaline Trio. First time I pressed play I was like... YEP definitely influenced them

lol I just looked at the setlists from that tour and MCR played 8 songs so I don't know where some of these rusty memories are coming from.

yeah jimmy didn't play 30 minutes lol it was just them and GD, they both had beefy sets! jimmy had dropped futures the year previously and i remember the set being very futures/bleed american heavy

Saw jimmy and my Chem open for Green Day that tour (both were incredible by the way) and yeah I remember the sets not being very long and setlist.fm backs that up!

I must have gotten lucky on the fall 2005 leg. Screenshot from my old post-show iTunes log shows they did 10 songs.

Also got Maria and Uptight at our date - and I met my wife at that show.

Truly one of the best nights of my life!
