It's less about what constitutes a long album and more about the weird lines people draw in the sand. Like, one album's length is fine but just ten minutes more is too much.
I mean, it's a long album, but it is definitely not a "I can't possibly listen to this in one sitting!" album. I just think it's funny how people on this site talk about album length. Feels like every time an artist does a 10-song album I see people whining about it being "too short!" or "feeling like an EP!" What is the acceptable album duration?
I've never not finished 21CB in one go, but it does feel a lot longer than AI simply because of quality
I've heard short albums that felt long and long albums that felt short, so mileage varies, but I think most people would probably agree that around 45 minutes is the sweet spot.
I'd say the perfect album length is like 10-12 songs. The new Gaslight Anthem, for example, is the absolute perfect length in my opinion.
When does Uno get bad? Havnt listened to this album in forever and have little recollection of it, but the first like 4 songs have been pretty good to me lol.
If 21CB is twelve minutes or whatever longer than Idiot, it's a problem mostly cause there's at least twenty minutes of filler on that album Album lengths themselves don't matter if it's good all the way through, short or long.
Yeah shoutout to Gaslight Anthem and Taking Back Sunday for creating two wonderful albums that leave you wanting more in a good way.
My album of the year this year is 16 minutes long. My album of the year last year was 68 minutes long. Great albums come in a lot of different shapes and sizes!
Church on Sunday was my top song this year. definitely tracks, been absolutely obsessed with it for some reason
