I don't think they really need to anymore. They're never going to lose their status as an arena rock band at this point, I think eventually they'll go the Rolling Stones (or KISS if people are gonna get mad at me for comparing them to the Stones) route where they keep putting out albums for the fans while playing massive shows full of people that didn't listen to them
Hard to think of any rock band that will ever achieve the level of American Idiot again, or anything like it. That level of cultural ubiquity for rock music is a ship that has sailed.
AI also came out when pop-punk was red hot on the radio and MTV. It was perfect timing. I’d be surprised if rock music in general gets close to reaching those heights again.
I think iTunes used to do this because that album came out pre-gapless playback, and then it just stuck somehow when streaming became a thing. It's really, really dumb.
I specifically burned my American Idiot CD into my iTunes library way back in the day for this exact reason. Had to have Holiday and Blvd of Broken Dreams separate
I've hated this for a long time and it's even worse now Youtube has done the same thing with the Spotify auto-rips
Pollyanna was good but yeah after this turd of a record idk hopefully they course correct and do better next time
They should get The Hives to ghost write their next album Or full write and give them all the credit Or The Hives should just make a new record
This is one of those bands that I’ll always listen to whatever they put out. I don’t necessarily expect to love or even like it but I’ll always give it a chance
They should get Tom Delonge to ghost write it. He did a better Green Day song on his last AVA album than Green Day has done in years.
I never really have high hopes for movie soundtrack songs (although JAR was one and that's one of their most underrated songs) but still obviously excited to hear it
