Everyone should be required to watch a youtube video of the King For A Day thing so that we all get 3-4 more songs in the set
Given that it's a stadium show where you really have to play to the cheap seats, I imagine these would be the song selections (not in order played) that could totally destroy a stadium. WEEZER My Name Is Jonas Undone Buddy Holly Say It Ain't So Surf Wax America El Scorcho Hash Pipe Island In The Sun Beverly Hills Perfect Situation Pork And Peans If You're Wondering Thank God For Girls Africa All My Favorite Songs The End Of The Game (medley of some sort/maybe a few additional covers) FALL OUT BOY Grand Theft Autumn Saturday Sugar We're Goin Down Dance Dance 16 Candles Arms Race Thnks Fr Th Mmrs Thriller I Don't Care Beat It My Songs The Phoenix Young Volcanoes Centuries Uma Thurman Irressitable Champion Future Self GREEN DAY: Longview Basketcase Welcome To Paradise When I Come Around She Brain Stew/Jaded Hitchin A Ride Good Riddance King For A Day Minority American Idiot Jesus Of Suburbia Holiday Boulevard Of Broken Dreams Know Your Enemy Bang Bang Father Of All Oh Yeah Here Comes The Shock (might slip Oh Love or 21 Guns depending on show structure)
I don't want them to retire "King for a Day," but if they spend 15-20 minutes of the set on that song with the "HEEEEEY OHHH" and the covers? I'm gonna be really bummed.
I honestly do not need to see King for a Day (and Shout) on this tour. Love Green Day, love that new fans coming to the shows get to experience those traditions, but I just feel a little different about it. I’ve seen Green Day do it on like 7+ different tours and it’s not as fun at that point, especially in a situation like this where they won’t have a full three hours to fill up with 10-minute versions of every song in the middle chunk of the set.
I'd rather see King For A Day since it's a whole experience rather than Jesus of Surburbia which is just a regular song. But then in a perfect world on this tour they'd skip both songs and play 6 others in their place.
They are 5 for 5 playing it at shows I’ve been at since 2002. It’s ridiculous lol The good thing is they tend to break the 11pm curfew consistently
It's not that I don't like the song but new kids seeing the band are gonna be wowed by King For A Day's theatricality. I definitely think they're still going to play both songs because that's just who Green Day are.
Just like Panic! playing Bohemian Rhapsody for 19 tours in a row...we can bitch all we want about it, we know it's not gonna do anything
and get ready to add Weezer playing “Africa” at every show from now on to the list of annoyingly played out things bands do haha
This reminds me, when I saw them on Riot Fest 2018, from 20 songs they played, 5 were covers! Still better than playing songs from Pacific Daydream tho
It’d be quite nice if Weezer threw in some Blue Album and Pinkerton deep cuts on this tour, but I’m not holding my breath
