A cancellation would be a bummer. Hoping for a postponement. Any shows of this capacity in 2021 will probably just be one-offs since it's easier to navigate around one state's guidelines, as someone else said.
I feel like the tour will just get straight up canceled at this point. Green Day has that Life is Beautiful festival booked. If this gets cancelled I can see them just making a last minute headlining ampitheater tour surrounding it in cities that have looser covid restrictions.
Part of me is hopeful that it will get postponed to next summer, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it was cancelled altogether
I'm not sure if it would get cancelled or just postponed but... Probably not happening this year. Hopefully each of the bands are able to do something this year.
I mean... Weezer just did a pretty neat online show. Surprised FOB hasn't done that themselves already.
No way this gets cancelled, the entire tun was like 80%+ sold out. They’ll keep moving it to keep that revenue
If RATM and MCR which were arena tours are rescheduling, can't imagine this happening. My guess is they are already in the process of securing 2022 dates. What's going to be odd about this is Green Day's album, which stiffed, will be 2 years old and I doubt people will want to hear much off it. Ditto for Weezer who, by that point, will probably have released 2-3 records in addition to Ok Human and Van Weezer.
I have a feeling Weezer is holding Van Weezer for this tour. If it goes to 2022, I also expect Green Day will have a new album ready to go with the tour.
I wondered if this tour was going to be the start of another FOB Hiatus. I thought it was interesting they were doing a big tour with a Greatest Hits release. Reminded me of last time with the Blink-182 reunion tour. However, this tour has taken so long to happen, they probably got their break in anyway.
Seeing some event pages get added/updated on Facebook for this, looks like it’s still on for 2021 as of now.
Weezer is releasing a new Van Weezer track tomorrow and claims the album is still coming out May 7th. I’m assuming their label either is confident the tour will happen or they don’t wanna keep all those copies sitting in a warehouse for another year.
When they were doing press for FOAMF, the band made it sound like they were going to be releasing some singles last year now that they were out of their contract (with a new single by summer). Maybe that was the plan and the pandemic waylaid it but yeah... I bet they're working on songs as we speak. I suspect they just want to push it out, at this point. Fans reacted well to OK Human so the will among the fans seems better than it's been in a while... Might as well capitalize on that while the core is listening with something that the broader public might like too. That and the whole "sitting on an album for another full year" just doesn't make sense, at this point.
There are shows happening in September, is it really that much of a stretch for August shows to happen? Especially if they're outdoors? Genuinely asking, I don't really know
I think it’s more that each state would need to allow full capacity by then since tickets were already sold so they can’t even do 75 percent or anything like that
I have really low hopes for this happening. From an insurance standpoint, probably have to make a call before May so I imagine they are working through the logistics for 2022 reschedule. Gonna be another LOOOOOOONG summer everyone.
Weezer going forward with the Van Weezer release in 2 weeks makes me think they've already got a back up plan lined up for 2021. Anticipating Green Day and/or Weezer getting added to Riot Fest, Austin City Limits and Voodoo Fest, with random one offs at ampitheaters in the south where they've eased on restrictions.
Green Day's "Here Comes The Shock" felt like it was an introduction track to....something. I bet they'll have some sort of new material soon.
Gotta be honest here. The first three tracks on FOAM felt like songs they wrote explicitly because of that NHL deal so they had something that would sound good in commercials. And "Here Comes the Shock" sounds like it has the same purpose (but is inarguably a better song than those other three--and I can see them playing it live). I'm sure they'll have more material but it has a b-side feel to it. I kinda hope it's them getting the last sputters of whatever they have in their system that led to that last record and any other writing they're doing moving forward has more of a sense of purpose to it other than "here's an album to fulfill a contract/tour on." But unfortunately, they'll also probably hold on any new music until they have shows on the books.
The Red Sox have announced the new 2021 concert dates for Fenway Park shows that were canceled in 2020 because of the pandemic. Aerosmith: Sept. 14 Billy Joel: Aug. 4 Def Leppard & Motley Crue: July 17 and 18 Green Day: Aug. 5 Guns N Roses': Aug. 3 Lady Gaga: Aug. 7 Maroon 5: Sept. 12 New Kids on the Block: July 16
Wrigley Field in Chicago also announced their summer concerts a few weeks ago and Hella Mega is still up. Crossing my fingers so they dont postpone/cancel
