Pretty much what I expected in terms of a "major radio hit to deep cut" ratio. I'm a little surprised they went with "Ordinary World" over one of the other, more energetic new songs... And I would gladly trade out that "King for a Day" schtick for an Insomniac track or two (that isn't "Brain Stew") but fuck that's a solid setlist! "Scattered" and "Waiting" are easily two of my all-time favorites. And I feel like I never get to see them live anymore...
I'm figuring the set list is going to get switched up a bit night-to-night. Looks like we'll get a 2-hour set in Boston given that the show starts at 8:30pm. Dog Party 8:30-9, Green Day on at 9:30. Jives with the HOB norm.
i dont want to peak....i really dont want to peak..... i peaked ehhhhhhhh, eh...ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i dont know if i'm THAT amped for that setlist. I mean did people see the setlist for them when they played irving plaza a bit ago. That's what i wanted. They're doing basically the singles from each album. like for these mosh shows i was really really really hoping for a mostly punky set.
That set list would make me the most happiest of all-time ever! But... I'm excited about seeing Green Day in a smaller venue. I'll take what I can, even if it's a fairly standard set. Could it be better? Totally. Still just really hope they finally cut "King for a Day." They've been doing that same schtick for nearly 20 years now... It's old and completely predictable. And if you cut that you can play another 3-4 songs. Haha.
i can't fucking believe they're still doing it either. i saw them in 04', it's 12 god damn years later....and it takes like 20 minnutes!
I'm glad, if nothing else, that they've dropped "Knowledge." I have a bootleg of a festival appearance here in MA from 1998... And that whole thing took fucking eight minutes. Plus, destroying instruments and lighting a drum kit on fire for ~8 minutes at the end of a 55-minute set. I understand that t's all part of the performance, part of the fun and all that. But after a while it turns into a "This thing again?!!" moment.
Haha, I'm a dumbass that didn't read carefully. That's super awesome - probably my favorite Green Day song!
I guarantee the set will change night to night, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more songs get added. They are just getting back to playing after most of them were really sick.
Pretty good setlist. Some of my favorites missing. And I'm not surprised, but I am disappointed there is nothing from Uno, Dos or Tre. I know most people aren't a fan of them but I happen to think there were lots of excellent songs on it.
Glad they actually realized to drop some of the major singles since almost everyone in attendance is a die-hard fan based on how fast tickets sold
OK. I looked up Uno, Dos, and Tres. Did <ANY> of them make airwaves/radio play? I knew NOTHING of them.... Did I miss out on a lot from the albums between Dookie and Revolution Radio? Lol. OK. I know American Idiot - but still... yikes - I missed a lot, I guess.
Yeah why do they still do that King For A Day/Shout medley every damn tour. I literally saw them do that in 2005 when I was 16... Edit: Replied before I saw 4 people echo the same sentiment haha
Security would tap people and tell them to stop taking pics. I didn't see anyone get kicked out but saw plenty of people get told to stop taking pictures. I was in the ADA seating off to the side so it was easier to get people over there. People more in the middle should be able to pull off pictures better. The later in the show it got, the less strict security seemed to get also.
Security was all over the place it seemed. It didn't seem like a ton of moshing probably because everyone was packed in pretty tight. Tons of crowd surfers though. The venue is a bit smaller than the Aragon so maybe there will be moshing there if you are hoping for that. Also, I was on the side so there could have been pits a bit more to the left but from what I could tell it didn't seem like it. I am also running on 4 hours of sleep so my memory might not be all there right now, lol.
