yes this is the director of Dumb And Dumber and There's Something About Mary, I don't know about this movie but damn is Mahershala suave and can he wear a suit

Is it possible the Farrelly brothers knew that they were done as comedy directors

This was my favorite film from Austin Film Festival by a long mile. A lot more laughs than I was expecting but still really well written.

Really safe and by the numbers with some other issues, but still really enjoyed this.

This was pretty fantastic. Left the theater in a great mood. Laughed way more than expected and Mahershala absolutely kills it

Viggo didn't quite walk around saying gabagool pasta fazule like I thought he would but it wasn't that far off, he wasn't not cartoonish and at several points I was like I know he's a real person but no way, him drinking half a carafe of milk, 2 sandwiches, and an entire folded pizza was fascinating though
Mahershala has such a way about him, I understand that Dr Shirley had a way about him
this was definitely a standard movie about racism from white people, well I guess not standard because the white guy was unpolished to say the least

I know what you mean. It's the kind of movie my grandma would call me about to say that it opened her mind up a little bit.

Saw this today and really enjoyable front to back, even if the storytelling was a little formulaic and figured they took dramatic liberties. Was not familiar with the background but upon looking it up, surprised to see the real Tony Lip played Carmine Luppertazi on The Sopranos.

Mahershala doesn’t seem like the kind of guy to participate in something so jacked up.

I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this film now. On the one hand, I loved it and my heart was completely warmed by it. On the other hand, it’s highly possible the story is inaccurate and whitewashed. Farrelly and Vallelonga have already proven themselves to be bumbling fools, but I respect Octavia Spencer’s take. It also lent the opportunity to learn about Dr. Shirley at all, which is really cool. I do wonder what kind of film we would have gotten if they just spent an extra year writing it and getting things right.

I doubt he was aware of any of this.

That pic of Richard E. Grant and Timothee is almost incredible enough to make up for how terrible Viggo has been throughout this entire campaign. Definitely saving it for future memes.
