I am very glad I opened this thread a few weeks ago and familiarized myself with Plastic Cough. This is fantastic so far about halfway through.
Yeah, this definitely blew me away. I only heard Plastic Cough for the first time last night, but the growth between the two records is kind of astonishing.
"this house is haunted" - a line shared by Split Up the Kids and Stay Together For The Kids, both about divorce of parents.
This just keeps getting better Also, Plastic Cough is one of the best rock records of the last few years, just a different beast entirely
"You just gotta keep hanging on and it won't be long Don't let life take your hard work I know you feel done but you're still so young Sometimes living is hard, hard work" The way this is sung, and the context of the vibe of the song,.....hits me hard.
Still pushing so hard to try and help you But losing the will to see it through And I can’t help you if I can’t help myself You’re gonna have to make your own coffee now And I can’t help you if I can’t help myself You’ll never get the satisfaction Song has got me completely fucked up, god damn
the last couple tracks on this step down a bit for me (this version of mostly here feels kinda unnecessary when held up next to the first), but everything thru human condition is deeply affecting and this record on the whole is a giant leap for the band as everyone has said. some really wonderful moments on each of those first 9 tracks
lyrically i’m sure it has great material, but from a melodic standpoint i just didn’t find it quite as captivating as the rest of the record.
mostly here has always rocked, i guess i just didn’t hear this new one adding a whole lot of new elements that didn’t grab me the first time around
I adore this so much that I decided to revisit plastic cough and it is way way way way better than I remembered. What a band.
