I've pretty much done a 180 on this album. Enjoying it way more after spending some time with it. The last few tracks do sort of kill the momentum and some of the lyrics across the songs still make me want to roll my eyes to back of my skull. Just too on the nose.
Saw them perform this in full to open their holiday show (an interesting choice) and was underwhelmed but after 3 listens through the full thing I love it. Not sure anything on it gets close to the highs of Nella Vita or Umbra for me but I think it might be their best record as a whole.
I really like this. I didn't like Umbra at all so this is a big improvement. I listened to the singles as they came out but this has enough new songs that I feel everything flows well
This has definitely grown on me. I think it might grow further. Really didn’t like it at first but I think it’s definitely better than Umbra.
I love Umbra too. It's not as good as Nella Vita but I still think it's better than this or the debut although this one is growing on me a fair bit.
So I listened to Umbra again this morning and I liked some of it more than I remember. The slower songs/back half still didn't do much for me.
Umbra has some really great songs but there are a few tracks I have really never gotten into. When these guys hit on all cylinders the songs are very strong, but they tend to write uneven albums. I can't say any of them are great from top to bottom, always a few tracks I skip over. They love slow ballads but they always tend to be their weakest songs.
Ok. I’m fully in. The playlist of the new slowly slowly with this has been on repeat all week and I love both albums. This is maybe a little long. SS was a little short. Gonna rule the first quarter for sure.
Yeah i like this a lot. Ive never ever gotten into a Grayscale album start to finish, this one's no different. But the highs from this are on par with the highs of the last few
This keeps growing on me. I might like it more than Umbra too now, it's at least on that level. "Mum II" in particular has become one of my favourite songs of theirs. This has probably the strongest finish of any of their records.
I agree. I think other albums have higher highs but lower lows. Haha. the album is consistent and I keep come back.
This album has consistently pulled me back into it over time, I really love it now. The Don’t Leave Me In the Dark/Painting Over You stretch is a lull for sure, but other than that I have zero complaints at this point
