Grayscale discuss their ambitious new album: "There are songs about love, sex, grief, drugs, death and everything in between"
I really love the interviews from Collin. I feel like I relate a lot to him. I seriously cannot wait until Friday.
Tommy's Song Never listened super closely to the lyrics of Old Friend, but these two songs go hand in hand. The Genius page for this album has some quotes on certain songs from the Rocksound magazine - giving some background to the songs.
I haven't delved too deep into the record yet; I've just had it on in the background. First thoughts are that Collin sounds really good & I really like that the vocals are more upfront in the mix compared to some of their older songs I've listened to. Crazy how I never got into this band until Painkiller Weather was released, and now this album became one of my most anticipated of the year. PS: I still don't get the comparisons to The Maine at all.
I actually think painkiller was my least favorite track on the EP. I like it - just the other tracks more.
I listened a few times to the album tonight. I like it. I don’t think I love it as much as I was hoping. I miss some of the “heavier” sound they had on last albums. But this is still good. Collin has a great voice.
first listen through earlier today - such a great album!!! can't wait to get these songs in my head. the singles stand out most but Asbury is so Yellowcard (LaS), the Maine influence was huge on What's On Your Mind, but everything is solid they should stop using the word fuck though
Great great album Asbury, In Violet, Baby Blue and Painkiller Weather are my standouts... really happy for these guys! Loved adornment but this is a fantastic follow up! Sad I missed them on Wednesday and really hope they come back to the DMV area soon!
I can only speak for myself obviously but that one was easily one of my least favorites at first too. Still don’t know if I love how heavy that synth is in the verses, but otherwise it’s for sure the track that grew on me the most, it’s allllways in my head
That's great to hear! On listen through #3, I find the repetitive, overly saccharine chorus to be uninspired and grating, on a record that full of moments that hit hard on an emotional level. I hope I'm able to grow to love it!
