Today I’m excited to bring everyone the latest single and video from Grace Inspace, called “Meteor,” that features artist Luna Li. The single is this artist’s debut release on TODO Records and it showcases Grace Inspace’s innate ability to convey a wide range of emotions through her dynamic music. Grace Inspace shared, “‘Meteor’ started as a mantra I would repeat to myself in moments when anxiety or pain felt endless–a reminder that whatever I was feeling was ephemeral and that I shouldn’t cower from it because it would soon subside. I took the skeleton of the song to Luna Li and we sat crosslegged on her bed and fleshed it out, before asking Josh Mehling and Mulherin to turn it into an anthem with their production.” If you’re enjoying the video, please consider streaming the single here.

You say that “Meteor” started as a mantra you would repeat to yourself during moments of anxiety – what was the experience like turning this sort of calming phrase into a fully fleshed out song?

It was incredibly cathartic. This past year was one of the most anxious I’ve ever experienced — I was displaced for months because of the Altadena fires, and in the middle of all that uncertainty, “Meteor” became a kind of anchor for me. The lyrics remind me that whatever pain or fear I’m feeling is fleeting, and writing it into a song turned that reminder into something I could return to again and again. Beyond that, “Meteor” has come to symbolize the strength of my community. I created it with people who have been my support system through everything, so in a way the song doesn’t just soothe me — it reflects the resilience and love of the people around me.

How did you end up working with Luna Li, Josh Mehling and Mulherin on the track?

We all come from the same circle of friends. I met Luna and Josh about three years ago through our friend Hope Tala, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. Josh later introduced me to the Mulherin twins, and Parker — one of the twins — is now my partner. These people aren’t just collaborators; they’re my chosen family. At different points I’ve even lived with each of them, so creating with them feels completely natural. When I brought “Meteor” to Luna, we sat cross-legged on her bed with two guitars and mapped it out together. Then we took it to Josh, who built out the production and gave it shape, and finally to Mulherin, who added the finishing touches. The song really feels like a snapshot of my community in motion — all of us pouring pieces of ourselves into it.

This is your first release since 2023’s Sunshine Kid, how do you feel about the direction your music is taking in comparison to your previous work?

Sunshine Kid was very character-driven. Each song was me stepping into a different fragment of my personality and expanding it into something almost storybook-like. With this new music, I’m moving away from that sense of disguise. I’m no longer filtering my feelings through characters— I’m trying to just show up as myself. It feels more vulnerable, but also more honest, and that’s
    exciting.
