Listening to the ST for the first time in about 15 years. Probably the first time I’ve sat down with the whole album, actually. Clint Eastwood still slaps.
Holy crap, I had totally forgotten about Rock The House. Giving me some serious nostalgia goosebumps. So so good.
Self-titled might be my favorite, it was so weird and blew me away as a kid. Stuff like New Genius and M1A1 are so underrated in the larger catalogue. They somehow created an album that musically so different and touched on so many genres, while being tonally very consistent.
Be careful on this site. There was someone in the bad music opinions thread that was talking about how no one listens to Gorillaz and you only listen if you don't listen to other music or listen to Green day or something.
I know it's sacrilegious, but Demon Days is my least favorite main album from them other than The Now Now Gorillaz > Plastic Beach > Humanz > Demon Days > The Now Now > The Fall
Everyone seems to have a different order lol Demon Days> Plastic Beach> Humanz> s/t> The Now Now> The Fall
As much as I love Demon Days and think it's a better album thematically and in its cohesiveness, I think Plastic Beach is just more listenable for me as an everyday type of album. I can just throw it on and jam out. Those two albums flip for me a lot. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly suggest you watch this concert of him in France for the release of his solo album where he plays songs from all his main projects including "Tomorrow Comes Today", "Kids With Guns", "Slow Country", "El Manana" and "Clint Eastwood" (with the rap done in French by Malian musician Oxmo Puccino). It's super good. Edit: I forgot he kind of goes ham on Kids With Guns a bit haha
The new album is their best work since Plastic Beach by far and I really like Humanz. This song and video are great (mostly because of the ending, there's a big spoiler)
