I love the progression the band has made visually since the first album's music videos. Cool seeing the animation change as the music changes throughout the years
I really hope they release some of the tour visuals on their Youtube channel once the tour is over like they did for the Plastic Beach tour, I'd like to see some of it again. Especially the ones with the artists lip-syncing the songs
Looks like the usual players, with the exception of Mos Def and Del. I really hope Del pops out for the Vegas show next weekend!
Last night's show was absolutely fucking INSANE and amazing. One good thing about living in LA is when artists treat their shows here more special. The show last night was honestly like watching a festival headliner. They brought out FOURTEEN special guests (more if you could De La Soul as 3) and premiered a brand new song they wrote 3 days ago, haha. They played 28 songs for 2 hours and 15 minutes, it was amazing. The entire first half of the show had no guests and then it was like rapid fire everyone showing up in a row. Anyway check out this hell of a set list M1 A1 Last Living Souls Saturnz Barz Tomorrow Comes Today Rhinestone Eyes Every Planet We Reach Is Dead Sleeping Powder 19/2000 On Melancholy Hill Busted and Blue El Mañana Let Me Out (with Pusha T) Dirty Harry (with Bootie Brown) Ascension (with Vince Staples) Strobelite (with Peven Everett) Andromeda (D.R.A.M. Special version) (with D.R.A.M.) Sex Murder Party (with Jamie Principle and Zebra Katz) Out of Body (with Kilo Kish, Zebra Katz & Michelle) Garage Palace (with Little Simz) Kids With Guns Superfast Jellyfish (with De La Soul) We Got the Power (with Jehnny Beth) Encore: Idaho Stylo (with Peven Everett, Bootie Brown & "a good friend of Bobby Womack," Arthur) Feel Good Inc. (with De La Soul) Clint Eastwood (with Del the Funky Homosapien) Don't Get Lost in Heaven Demon Days
I'm saying that there have been a TON of times that I see a band on tour and get special guests when no other dates on the tour do. Case-in-point, Miguel a year-ish ago brought out Kendrick, Snoop, Warren G and A$AP Rocky
They played that stupid Idaho song in Seattle. Real glad they sacrificed the minutes they could have spent playing "Feel Good, Inc." for a half-baked jam session of a country song, especially so they could start again halfway through so Damon could pull that bullshit musician move of, "Y'know, can we turn off the click track and just play?" This was last Saturday, I'm still angry about this shit. All of that said, Seattle was still pretty awesome, since Gorillaz are pretty awesome. I am jealous of the addition of "Dirty Harry" (one of my ATFs), but the setlist is pretty similar. Do wish I could've been there, though!
Haha, well I actually liked Idaho, maybe they fixed it up since then. Also, he said they wrote it two days ago so that definitely was a lie, DAMON!!!! Aside from that, glad you dug the show though, they were pretty LIT the whole show, as the kids say
Setlist looks pretty similar to the one I got at Life is Beautiful, but I'm jealous you got 19/2000 and Dirty Harry. I also love that new song they do with Little Simz....hope it's on this supposed surprise album.
Their show still might have been my favorite that I went to this summer, and I saw the Damn tour. They didn't play Feel Good Inc which sucked but it was amazing, and I'm pretty sure my show got the only Pusha T appearance until this new leg that just started
seeing them on friday and the setlist looks great, i was a little apprehensive about this show since im not too big on humanz but they've thrown in a good amount of random favorites (m1a1!, every planet we reach is dead!!!) for me to be excited.
Oh shit you're right! I honestly haven't listened to that album in full in like 10 years. The only songs Ive gone back to since then are 5/4, Clint, 19/2000 and Tomorrow Comes Today. I should give it a spin soon.
