Hallelujah money is my favorite song on this and might be a top 3 Gorillaz song for me lol. Different strokes
Really digging the vibe on this record. It really does feel like an end of the world party mix... They totally nailed the concept. Need to listen more before I start ranking it.
This is going to take a few more listens. It is more chaotic than other Gorillaz albums, but that goes with the theme I suppose...
Never listened to this band outside of Feel Good Inc. but that song with Vince Staples is fuckin fire. I'm gonna give this a go.
Any projections yet on first week sales? I'd imagine its doing fairly well....I tried picking up the vinyl this weekend but both stores I went to said they sold out of it first day. EDIT: Nevermind I found some numbers. Projected to debut at #2 with 120k sps.
The numbers are out. Humanz debuted at #1 on the sales chart with 108k copies sold. It debuted at #2 on the sales + streaming chart with 135k. That's really impressive! Their highest charting album in the US. Especially since none of the singles did well here (Saturn Barz peaked at 101).
Kinda surprised of the reception this album's had but I guess there aren't any standout songs as in the previous ones. I love the whole vibe of this, it's a really good one to listen from top to bottom.
I listened to this twice so far and it hasn't left too much of an impression on me as I first expected, which is a major disappointment considering how much I've loved their last two albums (not counting The Fall) The lack of Damon's vocals on this one really distracts me
It's interesting to see people say they're disappointed with the lack of Damon's voice on this one, but then say they loved Plastic Beach. I'm pretty sure he sings more on Humanz, no?
i dont think so. there are more songs with no damon in them in plastic beach but plasitc beach has more songs that are just damon. i dont have any exact numbers but im pretty sure damon is also more prominent in plastic beach than humanz where his appearances are generally pretty minimal. either way it definitely feels less like there's less damon in humanz. also doesnt help that his voice has a pretty heavy effect on it throughout most of the album that makes him seem like he's barely there
This talk has made me go back and listen to Plastic Beach from beginning to end for the first time in years. Yeah you're right, there definitely is a little more of a Damon presence on PB. Also damn I think I enjoy PB so much more now than I did 7 years ago. Rhinestone Eyes, Stylo and Melancholy Hill are top 10 Gorillaz songs.
Think Plastic Beach is my fav but it was also my first Gorillaz record, outside of knowing their past singles
The first half of Plastic Beach is fantastic but it kind of falls off in the second half imo besides a few songs. I think this one is stronger overall. Demon Days is the best still though
After a few weeks, this is easily my least favorite Gorillaz album, not including The Fall of course. I am already kinda sick of it haha. Oh well
