It is, but it's still missing a fair amount of others. Mostly an hoping for demos and unreleased things that would come along with a super deluxe
So they have G-sides and D-sides (Demon Days) but they've never officially done one for any album after those. We know they have a lot of finished unused material because they've said as much and some of it has found its way online, but no word if any of it will be released. You can search "Gorillaz Sea sides" and find the stuff from Plastic Beach. They've released vinyl sets that have had alternate versions or bonus songs as well.
I'm very curious to see what Damon and Jamie have up their sleeve right now because they've openly admitted they haven't been on the same page with some stuff lately like how Song Machine ended up with a Season One at the end of the album title and that was a mess up. There's been some other stuff too. But Damon's been really busy with Blur and his play, but he's talked about how excited he is for new Gorillaz and how different it's going to be this time. I think it's great to get some sort of celebration and then new material. They've even changed their Apple Music to the artwork from the first album (in certain regions I guess) and they have a Gorillaz 25 playlist on Spotify now.
A lot of Plastic Beach songs didn't actually gel with me until I watched a live performance. Now it's definitely right up there with the first two albums for me.
I went to the Plastic Beach tour and would agree they geled more, but still not an album i love front to back like the first two.
Demon Days is just an incredible album and I HIGHLY recommend you watch Demon Days Live at The Manchester Opera House. That DVD is just truly wondrous.
I think the thing that drives Gorillaz fans wild is that we will never get back what we had during the first three albums. That kind of weirdness mixed with the dope art from Jamie that felt very street level and sometimes sloppy. But Gorillaz now is still a very good band even if it's removed itself from a lot of those notable aspects. Damon has always wanted to do a pop album and he was thrilled he got to do it with Cracker Island. It's not my favorite album, but Oil, Cracker Island, Baby Queen are so good and the whole album flows well. It's a bummer that Cass Browne never came back to Gorillaz when the band started back up because he did so much of the heavy lifting for the lore and such, but there seems to be bad blood between him and Damon.
I’m obsessed with Cracker Island and to a lesser extent Plastic Beach but I’m only a casual fan of Gorillaz style in general. So when I feel in the mood to listen, it’s usually satisfied by running one of those LPs. I am familiar with and a fan of the big hits off the other releases though.
Soooo uh, when does Deltron 3030 The Event 3 drop? The original album is a masterpiece and the first hint of Gorillaz.
All of Damon's stuff is rad even if I don't love all of it. The Narcissist off of Blur's latest album was incredible. Have you listened to this song from Rocket Juice And The Moon? @Serenity Now
Ballad of Darren is such an incredible album. the first Good Bad Queen is too, second one not so much
I remember getting the first Good Bad Queen album because I loved Gorillaz, but it never really caught my attention.
Sorry to bring this back from a couple of days ago but where did they discuss the "Season One" in the album title? That bugs the shit out of me too
