This seems to be going around. I just had two shows this weekend get postponed to FEB by a different band.

    well, shit, you guys....

I really love Goose's version of 2021 and when it came out I checked out a few studio recordings, I think the Night Lights release, and thought it was fine enough.

Listening to Shenanigans Nite Club right now and it's really fucking cool. Am I about to fall dive into Goose headfirst? Maybe

Welcome to the weird wild ride of getting into a jam band after (presumably) ignoring the genre for decades. That was my story at least.

@irthesteve Rule #1 of jam bands: don't listen to studio albums haha.

That being said, and I've mentioned it in here before, there hasn't been a jam band in a really, really long time that has the crossover appeal that Goose does. You discovering them via a Vampire Weekend cover is a perfect example. I started this here thread after everyone in the Bon Iver thread liked their AUATC cover.

The Buffalo set on Spotify is perhaps the gold standard of a single live show but you can't go wrong with the compilations there, especially Alive and Well or Bingo Tour.

Oh and...every single live show is on their Bandcamp for free. And there's plenty of amazing proshot YouTubes to watch on their.

Oh and...they're also streaming tonight and NYE for free.

@irthesteve After the 12/30 and 12/31 shows there will be a Jam of the Year tournament featuring 64 of the year's best jams that people vote on. This is technically two songs, but probably the most interesting and unique thing they played this year IMO.

I know I know I know that the studio stuff is never supposed to be what to listen to, but I have never been huge on live recordings, just really prefer being there in real life I guess. That being said, I'm a huge fan of The Mars Volta who really are a jam band if you have ever been to their shows, and their records are top notch. What I am trying to say is that Shenanigans Nite Club is a great album aside from the label you put on it, so it's nice to have that existing.

I'll make sure the Buffalo set is the next thing I check out from the band, plus the youtube video you posted (54 minutes for two songs, gotta love it haha)

All that said, you should definitely check out Moon Cabin if you like Nite Club. Better album IMO

The quality of the live material is near album quality, minus the screaming fans.

@irthesteve Ya know, looking at their Spotify releases again, Buffalo is still the best all-around show but 10.03.2020 (Swanzey, NH) might be a good way to get a lot of what Goose has to offer in one show.

You have really, really strong versions of Goose staples (Madhuvan, Tumble, All I Need), an incredible jam out of a classic cover with Look Out Cleveland (The Band), and then a gorgeous rendition of Tom Waits' Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis with Rick crushing the vocals:

  22. I really like it. Not sure if this makes sense but it kinda feels like a perfect synthesis of their sonic style and songwriting style. Almost like they said, what kind of song complements the production and effects we use, and they found it. You could also re-arrange this into a straight up pop song, I think, which is kinda cool

I honestly have a feeling they're going to announce another album soon. With their non-stop touring, new debuts, etc. I would not be remotely surprised if they had another LP of songs ready to rip.

Second night added for Radio City.

If Westville over the summer and Terminal 5 over the fall are any indications, DON'T stress if you don't score during the on sale. There were free tickets for those shows EVERYWHERE, and with 12,000+ seats over two nights there are going to be free or heavily discounted tickets absolutely everywhere for this too.
