Some RIAA certifications updated: The Young and the Hopeless 4x platinum S/T platinum Good Morning Revival gold. And a few singles updates including The Anthem 3x platinum.
Good Morning Revival going gold is interesting. I suppose dance floor anthem had a small amount of mainstream success. Cool to see though! edit: i see DFA was just certified 2x platinum and the river was certified gold. Pretty good for singles from an album that wasn’t well received.
Pretty sure that song was part of the sony payola scandal, but still probably would have done decently otherwise.
That’s probably an US thing, most of our relevant radio at the time was public so they definitely didn’t take payola
I just came across this interview from a few years ago. It's super interesting. Seems like he understands and accepts responsibility for the decisions he made while in the band, and they have actually been on good terms for a bit now. He is actually very well spoken.
