On the new episode of Artist Friendly (Darius Rucker episode), Joel says they have started recording “yesterday”, which I assume by now is last week (or within the last month at the most). They’re also “figuring out how to tour”. He also mentions that they took this long break because the last tour (or album cycle) was hard on their families. I recommend the podcast to GC fans in general by the way, in many episodes Joel talks a lot about their/his story too.
They're like the one major pop-punk band from their era that I never got around to seeing at least once, I would go too
the first time i saw GC was an acoustic concert at my local tower records, it was late 01, early 02 before they really popped off, i was maybe 13 or 14. it was awesome meeting them before young and hopeless dropped. then i didn't see them til years later it was a radio show and the lineup was stacked, it was them and sum 41 coheadlining, and then shiny toy guns and the bravery opened, i wanna say it was 06 or 07

Madden Brothers always seemed like genuinely good people. They got a LOT of shit thrown their way in message board culture during the early 00's with people assuming they were industry plants or corporate-created/not real "punk", etc. Seems like they've managed to leverage their success into a number of other lucrative projects which is great. In terms of their musical output, I fell off after Good Mourning Revial, are the later records good?
Cardiology is ok but has some songs i still go back to (that was the period where i think they were starting to burn out a bit). youth authority was a great comeback record and generation rx has some great stuff on it (even though it’s on the shorter side).
Joel confirmed on his latest podcast with Dexter from The Offspring that GC’s next album is coming out next year.
I think there will be a tour to support their new album coming out next year. Even if it’s just a short 2-3 month tour.
