I’m about halfway through it. It’s different from what I expected, but it’s really good. These guys are smart.
It seems that they’re not broken up, but they’re also not working on anything really and they have no interest in being a traditional touring band anymore, or as they put it: “we don’t wanna be away from our families for a year”. So they say if they do come back, it’ll be “different”. They seem to all be in a great place though, so I’m happy for them. I saw them once, it was magic, that was enough.
Yeah it was a fun interview, nothing earth shattering or news worthy. I do get the feeling they will put out another record eventually but sounds like their touring days are over.
Yeah that’s my thoughts too. I completely respect them wanting to stay home and raise their families and sounds like with everything they are doing now aren’t hurting for cash. I do think they will end up touring again, nostalgia acts in the scene already have proved there will be a demand for it when the time comes. I really hope we see new music from them sooner than later. Even if it’s anniversary deluxe albums with demos/unreleased music.
I’d be content with like 5-10 shows each summer, maybe do a truncated version of what AAR did this year. Really makes me excited for WWWY though, seems like that’ll be their only show for awhile.
I need to see finally these guys before I die. One of the very few must sees left on my list that has just never worked out for me. I’d love to go to WWWY but it’s during the worst time of the year for me for work, and we don’t get shit for festivals up here. I hope they somehow end up on Adjacent or something next year since I’m planning on going to that again
I hope we get some good footage of them at WWWY. And yeah hopefully we get one more album at some point. Sounds cheesy but they are the band that got me into music, so there will always be special meaning with them.
https://spotify.link/iqQLhPrqfDb In this episode (MxPx interview) Joel says that they are talking about touring currently, but that the shows would probably be “fan-centric and smaller”
I think all this means that they’re trying to find a way to be GC, which includes touring, without it getting in the way of their families as much as it usually would
I really just can’t get into Chronicles. Every few years I try and it just nothing for me. It’s not a ‘bad’ album and there’s only really 1 song that I hate. I don’t know maybe I was expecting much more after getting GC and the TYATH.
